Today I finished making two custom reels.
These are functionally identical to my Thistle #3/5 and Thistle #5/7 models. At the customer's request, the holes on the front wall of the spool are removed and the engravings are identical to those on the back wall of the frame.
These are all-titanium reels with a simple clicker mechanism. Below are the geometric and weight parameters of these reels:

Thistle #3/5 D Reel
Maximum Spool Diameter - 79 mm
Spool Arbor Diameter - 51 mm
Spool Width - 24 mm
Spool Volume - 68,577 cubic millimeters
Spool Weight - 195 grams

Thistle #5/7D Reel
Maximum Spool Diameter - 89 mm
Spool Arbor Diameter - 51 mm
Spool Width - 24 mm
Spool Volume - 100,228 cubic millimeters
Spool Weight - 267 grams

"We stand on the shoulders of giants"

From time to time, unique reels come into my hands.
And now I had to repair one of the reels, which came from the hands of a true fly fishing legend, Stanley Bogdan.
It is a real pleasure to hold and treat such products.
Over time, all mechanisms wear out, they need to be cleaned, some parts updated and given a new life.
This time I had to make a new shaft sleeve for this reel, clean it and renew the lubricants.
I hope it will serve its owner for some time.

So, I have new plans and thoughts regarding the design of ULA (Ultra larg arbor) reels. As I said earlier, the solution to this problem is closely related to the use of large diameter ball bearings. But finding such bearings at reasonable prices is now practically impossible. The price is astronomical. Therefore, I decided to independently manufacture a radial bearing of the required parameters using nine ordinary ball bearings.
I present two new MEGOFF ULS #4/5 reels. These are experimental models for fishing line weighing 4...6. Nine 6x10x3 bearings, three clickers.
Spool parameters:
diameter - 100 mm
shaft diameter - 76 mm
spool width - 18 mm
reel weight - 189 grams.

So far I am testing the reels for reliability and durability of the mechanism.

These are aluminum analogues of my aluminium Boomerang #4/5 model.
The reel is simple and light. A series of neodymium magnets perform the function of light braking of the spool from the flow of the line and at the same time perform the function of a quiet clicker. The difference between a classic clicker with a gear wheel is that there is no mechanical friction and there is no wear of the material of the clicker tooth and gear.
Geometric parameters of the spool:
Maximum diameter - 70 mm
diameter of arbor - 18 mm.
Width - 20 mm.
The total weight of the reel is 90 grams.

We work in wartime conditions. Cold, heat, constant air raids and something else.
Yesterday I organized a general cleaning in my workshop.
In the photo, a fragment of a MLRS rocket that I found among the garbage.
I don’t know when it arrived. Maybe in 2022, maybe in 2025.
During this time, the university territory was subjected to about 200 shellings
