After an intense week of competition at the East Africa Taekwon-Do Championship in Zanzibar, our team ZITA stood victorious with the championship cup in hand. The final day had been fierce, but we triumphed, proving the strength and unity of our team.

To celebrate, we decided to gather for a well-deserved dinner at Abinyo Restaurant, a cozy, known for its delicious seafood and relaxing atmosphere. As the sun dipped below the horizon, casting a golden glow over the Indian Ocean, the entire team arrived, still buzzing with excitement and pride.

We were greeted with warm congratulations from the restaurant staff, who had heard of our victory. The table was beautifully set, and the soft sound of slow music lapping against the shore created the perfect background music. The aroma of freshly grilled fish and exotic Zanzibari spices filled the air as we sat down to celebrate.

Laughter echoed through the restaurant as we shared memories of the matches, teasing each other about close calls and amazing moves. The cup, gleaming in the center of the table, was passed around as everyone took turns holding it, a symbol of our hard work and dedication.

After the meal, our leaders bosabom Ahmed Salami , boosaum Rashid Hamad and finally our president Sabum Maxmillian Kailangana stood up to say a few words. “This victory is not just about the cup,” he said, his voice steady but filled with emotion. “It’s about the journey we’ve shared, the struggles, the sweat, and most importantly, the family we’ve become.”

ZITA team is united in victory, would forever remember this night at Abinyo Restaurant—a perfect celebration of our triumph in Zanzibar.

The East African championship held in Zanzibar was a great and unique experience. Even though we were few, we created new memories and reached new milestones.This success is not the end but a new beginning. We thank all our club members and visitors for the support you have given us. We hope as we begin the new journey you will continue to walk with us to reach new heights.

We encourage all who have a dream and aspire to be great in the art of TaeKwon-Do to join us and to always remember;
Don't neglect your gift and talent. Be diligent and give yourself wholly to your work. Preservere and everyone will see your progress and be encouraged.

The 6th East Africa ITF Taekwon-Do Championship 2024 held in Zanzibar hosted by Zanzibar ITF Taekwon-Do Association (ZITA) was sucessful. Six (6) countries participated in the competition including Zanzibar, Tanzania Mainland, Kenya, Uganda, Zimbabwe and Ethiopia.The overall winner was Zanzibar, second place was taken by Kenya and third by Tanzania Mainland. ZITA would like to thank all the countries who participated in the event especially competitors who were able to compete.Special thanks to Master Niklas Enander, Sabum Saidy Kennedy, Sabum John Massawe, Sponsors and Zanzibar National Sport Council.
