*BENEFITS OF LIVING ON AN ISLAND*
An island is a piece of land surrounded by water on all sides. Life on an island, such as Mafia, Zanzibar, Pemba, Ukerewe or even England and Japan, has many advantages different from living on the mainland.
*1. CLEAN AIR AND A HEALTHY ENVIRONMENT*
On an island there are not many factories and cars like in Dar es Salaam. The sea breeze cleans the air every day.
- *No dust and heavy smoke*: This reduces nose, chest and allergy diseases (asthma).
- *Mental peace*: The sound of waves, the sea breeze and the blue scenery reduce stress. Island people sleep better and are less angry.
- *Natural exercise*: Swimming, fishing, walking on the sand is exercise without paying for a gym. The salt water itself heals skin diseases.
*2. FRESH SEAFOOD AND GOOD NUTRITION*
Island people eat fresh fish every day, not frozen fish from 3 days ago like on the mainland.
- Fish, octopus, prawns, squid - all have a lot of *Omega-3* that helps the brain and heart.
- Coconuts, seaweed, tropical fruits are available in abundance and cheaply.
- As a result: Island people have stronger bones, skin and heart health, and live many years.
*3. HIGH SAFETY AND PEACE*
Many islands have a small community that knows each other well.
- *Low crime*: When a stranger enters the island, he is quickly recognized. There are no thieves using motorbikes to rob like in the city.
- *No noise*: There is no noise from cars, buses and honking all night. Children can play outside freely.
- *Community morals*: Respect, good neighborliness and cooperation still exist a lot. One person's problem is everyone's problem.
*4. ECONOMIC AND BUSINESS OPPORTUNITIES*
The ocean itself is a bank.
- *Fishing*: It is a secure job. One octopus can be sold for 50,000 - 100,000 TZS.
- *Tourism*: You can turn your house into a guest house, be a tour guide, run a boat, sell baskets and bead jewelry. One tourist pays 100 dollars for just one day to see a whale.
- *Seaweed and pearl farming*: In Mafia and Zanzibar people farm seaweed that is sold in Europe for cosmetics, and farm pearls.
- *Land is still cheap*: Compared to Dar, getting a plot on the island is easier.
*5. UNIQUE CULTURE AND HERITAGE*
Island life is full of history.
- The true Swahili culture, traditional dances, Jahazi boats, fluent language.
- Children grow up knowing how to swim, make nets and read the stars at sea - skills that mainland people don't have.
- An island has its own identity, not everyone will be like you. You are proud to be a Mafia islander, Zanzibari, Pemba islander.
*6. ABILITY TO BE SELF-SUFFICIENT*
On the island people are used to being self-reliant.
- Rainwater is harvested, solar power is enough because the sun is strong.
- There is no rushing like city life. Life is slow, you eat what you catch, you rest when you are tired. This is the "Island Life" that white people pay millions to come and look for.
*CONCLUSION:*
In short, living on an island is living a life of better health, peace of mind, good food, security and money from the sea. That's why today all the big rich people in the world are looking to buy islands.
Its challenges are transport and small hospitals, but compared to the benefits, the island is a true paradise.
