Dave Kipper is a brown belt in the art of Brazilian Jiu Jitsu, BJJ, under black belt Dan Reid. Dave is also a black belt in Shorei Ryu karate, shodan, under 9th degree black belt Hanchi Terry Lettau. y allowing the practitioner to a gain positional advantage over his opponent. In such a position the opponent is submitted with the most efficient use of leverage. (This by the way is much more humane than pummeling a person into submission with strikes.) BJJ is also a healthy and rewarding lifestyle because it encourages healthy exercise, healthy eating, body awareness, awareness of the bodies and feelings of others and most importantly perhaps it engenders life-long friendships. Jiu Jitsu Monsters began in 2009 at the realization that BJJ can benefit the youth of our community. We all know of the increasing sedentary lifestyle of both children and adults due to an ever growing reliance on technology for means of livelihood and for entertainment. Also, youngsters today have much more school pressure than youngsters in the past, which also increases sedentary behavior. Both of these trends suggest a need for an energetic, vigorous activity which exercises the body and the mind of youth. Jiu Jitsu monsters meets every Saturday afternoon from 4:30-6:00pm and at special times during winter and summer breaks from school. An added bonus in that classes are taught primarily in English so that child can be exposed to that language outside the confines of the traditional classroom. Join us. Tap and Grow.
