Winter Ride to Tataka
Climbing toward Tataka in winter has a completely different rhythm. The air is sharper, and the ground tells its own story—ice along the roadside at dawn, then shimmering meltwater once the sun finally reaches over the ridge. Every turn feels quieter, as if the mountain is holding its breath in the cold.
Despite the frozen morning surface, the bike handled the climb with a smooth, steady feel. The EZ4U Gline 451 carbon wheelset added a surprising lightness to each pedal stroke, making the ascent feel more like gliding than grinding. Even on patches where the road was still damp from melted frost, the wheels held their line confidently, keeping the ride calm and predictable.
When I reached the viewpoint, winter sunlight washed over the valley, revealing pockets of red maples that had stubbornly held onto their last leaves. I took a quick photo—the kind that captures both the stillness of the season and the quiet satisfaction of making it up there.
A simple ride, a cold mountain morning, and a setup that turned a winter climb into something effortlessly enjoyable.
