Over the past two weeks, training was divided by belt levels so everyone could focus on techniques tailored to their rank. Sparring and practicing with peers of similar levels offers a great opportunity to exchange insights, recognize strengths and weaknesses, and work on refining your skills.
It is completely natural for techniques to feel unrefined at this stage, but we hope everyone continues to embody the spirit of martial arts!
Among the techniques covered over these two weeks, one involved the Shomen-uchi (front head strike) and Mae-geri (front kick)*. Because the receiving hands differ for each technique, it naturally takes time and practice to internalize them. As you learn more techniques, it’s bound to get a bit confusing at times—and that’s totally normal! The key is to notice the subtle differences when you catch yourself getting mixed up. With consistent practice, you’ll find yourself getting confused far less often!
