The Trinidad & Tobago Women’s Football Association (WFA) which has been in existence since 1985 had, in anticipation of the FIFA U-17 Women’s World Cup Trinidad and Tobago 2010, re-positioned women’s football as a regular and popular feature on the national sporting landscape. In this regard, the purpose of its League competitions over the next five years is to showcase the country’s talent while
developing players along a holistic elite path, thereby growing our player-base and support toward the realization of our vision; long-term development of the female game. To facilitate this process, the WFA focused inward and recognized the need not only to reorganize itself toward growth and development but also to re-brand the image of both the organisation or the League competition and the players. After much consideration the name Trinidad & Tobago Women’s League Football, sobriquet WoLF, emerged as the dynamic signifier to be used in women’s football. To this end, in 2012 the TT WoLF will concentrate on staging the only Women’s National Football League. Furthermore, the WoLF will be introducing a new model of Sports for Development in which we will be partnering with various ‘Women Serving’ NGOs in highlighting key social issues confronting women and girls in our country.
