Celebrating Trinidad & Tobago's Trailblazing Freedivers
At this time, we want to take a moment to show our deep appreciation for the phenomenal female athletes who have proudly represented Trinidad and Tobago in the demanding sport of freediving. Their strength, grace, and determination in the deep blue are an inspiration to us all.
Let us introduce you to these remarkable women:
Shivani Goberdhan
A true pioneer, Shivani has set multiple national records for Trinidad and Tobago. Her connection to the ocean extends beyond freediving, as she is also skilled in sailing and canoe surfing. Now residing in Hawaii, she remains a proud representative of T&T and is passionate about inspiring her fellow Trinidadians, especially women and girls, to explore and excel in water sports.
Kaleigh (Keke) McBride
Keke is a powerhouse in the freediving community, proudly holding four national records for Trinidad & Tobago. Her expertise is backed by an impressive array of credentials: a PADI Freedive Instructor Trainer, PADI Master SCUBA Instructor, Mermaid Instructor, Emergency First Response Instructor, and a certified 200-hour Yoga Teacher. She is a true ambassador for the sport, dedicated to education and safety.
Petra "Earth" Lezama
Petra’s story is one of pure grit and rapid ascent. She began freediving in 2024 and by 2025, was already competing and setting national records. In her first competition, she achieved a stunning record dive to 35 meters and a personal best in Free Immersion of 30 meters. Despite the odds, her deep passion and unwavering determination have quickly made her an athlete to watch.
Victoria Deonarine
A prodigious talent, Victoria was mastering depths of 40 meters by the age of 16. This extremely talented freediver recently took the world stage, representing T&T at one of the biggest freediving competitions of the year. Sharing the platform with legends like Alexey Molchanov, she thrived under pressure, delivering an impressive 45-meter dive to secure a new National Record in Bi-Fins.
We hope the stories of Shivani, Keke, Petra, and Victoria serve as powerful motivation for all athletes female and male across Trinidad and Tobago and beyond.
