Master Jin Young Jung, a Korean native, introduced Taekwondo to Trinidad and Tobago on December 1st, 1976. He founded the Trinidad and Tobago Taekwondo Association and served as its President for sixteen years. During the years, Master Jung produced thirty one (41) Black Belts, some up to the rank of Fifth Dan. Master Jung, a former sergeant in the Korean Army, began his Martial Arts training in J

udo in 1956. Then in 1959 he picked up Hapkido and Wrestling, emerging as National Lightweight Champion in the latter discipline in 1964. He currently holds the Grandmaster ranking in Taekwondo and Hapkido while also being a senior Black Belt in Judo. Master Jung has been the Technical Director of the TTTA from inception.

In martial arts, the term "cockfighting" is sometimes used informally to describe a lively and competitive sparring session where students display determination, spirit, agility, and fighting techniques in a controlled training environment.

Our students participated in an energetic sparring session, showcasing their skills, discipline, and respect while applying the techniques learned in class. Under the watchful guidance of our instructors, students developed confidence, timing, strategy, and self-control—essential qualities for success both inside and outside the dojang.
