Cancellation of the Tobago International Cycling Classic 2026....
Following extensive deliberation, the Management Team of the Tobago International Cycling Classic has made the difficult decision to cancel the 2026 edition of the event.
Despite sustained efforts to secure early sponsorship commitments, we were unable to obtain the minimum funding required to stage this prestigious 5-Stage International Race. With less than two months to race day, it is no longer feasible for international and regional cyclists, teams, officials, media, and other stakeholders to finalize travel and logistical arrangements for Tobago.
This decision is deeply disappointing to the organizers, athletes, officials, fans, and the many Tobago businesses, service providers and communities that benefit annually. It reaffirms that events of this international stature depends on timely commitment and strong financial partnerships across the private sector, state agencies, and the cycling community.
The Tobago International Cycling Classic has become a cornerstone of Trinidad and Tobago’s sporting and tourism calendar, attracting global athletes and visitors while generating significant economic impact for Tobago.
We are unsure what the future holds for the Tobago International Cycling Classic but we remain steadfast in our commitment and hope to return in 2027 with renewed energy and optimism, as we continue our efforts to showcase Tobago as the Caribbean’s premier destination for sport and sport tourism.
