SKHY Football Club was formed out of the growing need and demand for educational and physical programs to assist in the development of the youth of the country. It occurred to us that the breakdown of religious, social and moral fabric of society is creating children who due to lack of proper guidance are unable to make the right decisions and choices that would benefit them. As a result, the nati
on’s youth are not fulfilling their true potential. Joel Hyacentth, Colin Skeene, Dexter Skeene
It is because of this situation that the directors of SKHY have embarked on this program. We realize that there needs to be a paradigm shift from the idea that it is only necessary to teach the child the game of football i.e. techniques and tactics, to one where the focus is geared towards training the individual for the game of life. We believe that a holistic approach must be utilized in developing the overall talents of the person through the medium of sport in general and football in particular. Especially at this time when many children will be gravitating towards football due to our country’s World Cup debut. Therefore, the correct atmosphere must be created whereby the pupil will be given the opportunity to develop the ability to think through a process and make logical and wise choices, at all times striving for excellence. We think that we can achieve these results due to the fact that SKHY possesses a reliable management team, each with over twenty years of practical experience, contacts abroad and academic qualifications. Further to this, our leadership, administrative and planning skills make us capable of making a positive contribution to developing the youth and sport of football. The management of SKHY is actively engaged in this process and the management is resolute, committed and determined to develop local footballers, coaches and support staff to an international standard utilizing best practices from all parts of the globe. It is important to note that football is the number one sport in the country and it is estimated that more than 10% of the population (150,000.000) is actively involved in playing the game at a competitive level, and another (150,000.00) play the game as a form of recreation. In addition 30% is interested in and follow the results of the games.
