Every weekend there are fights all over the world, and many results occur. The most controversial ones are usually on points; there’s nothing to say about knockouts, but there are the inexplicable, nonsensical stoppages by the referee and the way the outcome is predicted. Tonight’s fight was exactly like that; in Lester Martinez vs. Luka Plantic, the referee made an inexplicable stoppage, intervening in the fight. Yes, Lester seemed to be leading on points, but this is boxing, and it all comes down to one punch, just like with the other Croatian, Hrgovic. The referee was perhaps influenced by the Guatemalan fans filling the USC Galen Center, and he stopped the fight before any knockout or health problem occurred. Perhaps if the fight had gone to points and Lester Martinez had won, there wouldn’t have been such doubt, but this incident has raised suspicions. The truth is, Luka wasn’t performing as expected today either; in boxing, an away game is like starting 2-0 down.

Originally from Tirana, Albania, Hadribeaj (23-0-1, 8 knockouts), promoted by Ahmet Öner, is currently living and training in Miami, Florida, preparing for his career-long goal of a world championship title. The 32-year-old boxer first established himself as a world championship contender in 2022 with a dominant unanimous victory over previously undefeated Daniel Buciuc, winning the vacant international title. He continued his climb in 2023 by knocking out former world champion Carlos Molina and in 2024 by unanimous defeats against previously undefeated opponents Bohdan Shtonda and Younes Zarraa. In May, he earned his first ever 12-round fight by unanimous victory over previously undefeated Bakary Samake, becoming the mandatory challenger for Fundora. This will be Hadribeaj’s first fight in the US since May 2023. In his career, she has also competed in his native Albania, as well as in Germany, Croatia, Uzbekistan, and the United Arab Emirates.

“I’m working hard to give my best performance and become world champion on October 17,” Hadribeaj said. “I’ve worked for this my whole career and I’ll be ready for the challenge Fundora brings. If he underestimates me, he’ll be in for a big surprise.”

Teofimo Lopez Defeats Rolly Romero via Majority Decision to Become Three-Division World Champion
Las Vegas, NV Teofimo Lopez made history at the T-Mobile Arena, defeating Rolando “Rolly” Romero by majority decision (116-112, 115-113, 114-114) to capture the WBA Welterweight World Title. 
With this hard-fought victory, Lopez officially becomes a three-division world champion, adding the 147-lb crown to his previous lightweight and super lightweight titles. 

Key Fight Highlights:
The Turning Point: Romero found success in Round 5, landing a crisp left hand that opened a cut over Lopez’s right eye and briefly put the challenger in trouble. 
Lopez’s Ring Generalship: Despite the cut, Lopez recovered quickly in Round 6, utilizing his jab, superior work rate, and precise body attacks to control the championship rounds. 
The Verdict: Romero’s low volume in the second half of the fight cost him the belt, allowing Lopez to outwork him on two of the judges’ scorecards.
