I have been reading many of the posts in the various forums related to Dalyan, in particular the ones relating to bars & restaurants. I sympathize with everyone that has had an experience which has not met their expectations. For those of you who are here for your summer holidays probably aren’t aware that Dalyan becomes a very different place once the season comes to and end. Most of the staff in bars, restaurants and hotels are not from Dalyan, they come from all over to seek work during the holiday season. Most are not trained in any particular field and learn on the job, which includes speaking to a customer in English, German, Dutch etc , and lets be honest how many of us could converse in Turkish, so there is bound to be the odd translation issue. Many of the establishments close at the end of the season, there are some which stay open all year round, some have strong expat followers and others Turkish custom, some a mixed. However whatever the situation if your meal is not up to par why not rectify the problem at the time, if the waiter does not seem to understand the issues you are having with what has been served then ask to speak to the manager or owner directly, if after doing this your expectations are still not met and you had an overall bad experience then absolutely, it would be good to get a heads up.
