Shotokan Karate Dojo at Bilkent University

Shotokan Karate Dojo at Bilkent University Shotokan Karate Dojo at Bilkent University study and train traditional Japanese Shotokan Karate in Ankara, Turkey. Such confidence leads to stable emotions.

Our goal is to teach Karate in a safe and disciplined environment. Our focus is self-development, fitness, and self-defense. Karate began somewhere in the distant past with elements of unarmed fighting methods from China and Japan coming together to be shaped by the unique culture and people of a small group of islands known as Okinawa. Situated geographically and sociologically at the halfway poi

nt between two great cultures, Okinawans developed a strong fighting spirit, which allowed them to exist for centuries as a culture distinct from their stronger neighbors. The physical and mental benefits of this art form have been recognized worldwide. Through physical training, a student learns that emotions control the physical body. Karate is the mastering of the body, the mind, and the emotions. It creates self-confidence in ones ability to stop an opponent with a single finishing blow (todome). Stable emotions eliminate negative emotions, to the benefit of physical and mental health. Traditional Karate tournaments maintain the original techniques and spirit of the ancient martial arts of karate and judges its participants based on a balance of technique, control and ability to finish a real-life opponent with a single blow. Participants fight at full strength, stopping a potential blow or kick within centimeters of their opponent. This combination of power and control takes years to develop and perfect.

We had a great training yesterday, thanks for everyone participated despite being -16 C. According to the University calendar, Fall sports courses ends on Dec. 15 and therefore if you want to continue training between semesters you have to register. please see the below note from Çapulcu Merve Ozdal:

Dear friends and instructor,

Today after the training I've learned that if we want to have trainings starting from next week and until the next semester, we as students should go and ask for it to have the trainings arranged, and they said that we should do it on monday. So I think the ones who want to have the trainings should come together on monday and go to the sports center for registration (Note: there is a little fee like 40 TL).

I will be happy to continue teaching however I will be not available between Jan.12 and Feb 2,2014. let me know.

Ossu!
