On Saturday 24th November 2012 a "Phuket Soccer Schools Over 40's Team" will take on the Singapore Referees Association at Youth Football Home in an 11 a side friendly International match. Kick Off 4.30pm.

Quote from Steve the Vets captain for the 7's Tournament .....

The lads had a magnificent tournament putting in great effort to end day 1 without losing any of our 4 games - including a 0-0 draw against the eventual winners of the competition.

The reward for all round outstanding performances was a place in the knock out stages of the cup - against our local friends from Phuket Morning Star - a much younger, leaner and fitter side. We were in the game until the final third but eventually lost out 3-0.

This placed the lads in the semi finals of the plate competition where we met another young team from Krabi. The game was our to lose after we went 2-0 up - and we nearly obliged by conceding 2 well worked goals to make it 2-2. Extra time ensued and it was not long before we got the all important goal to progress to the final.

Confidence was high but our opponents had not had such a tough morning playing their quarter and semi final against less demanding teams.

Thanyapura Vets bossed the first 5 minutes of the final and we went 1-0 up - but the team from UAE upped their game and pressured for the remainder of the game - eventually winning 2-1.

After such a great effort it was a shame to lose the final but the previous 7 games had tired the lads.

It really was a magnificent effort from all the team - and on another day - with less injuries - we would be disappointed without lifting a trophy.

A huge thank you to Dan for organising the team and his time and efforts with training sessions and managment during the tournament.

We are looking forward to next time.

Captain of the VETS team Chris Hart reports ....

" The squad is very much looking forward to this weekends competition
against some of the finest Vets teams is Asia. We have been privileged
to practice on the magnificent artificial grass pitch at Thanyapura
and the quality of the pitch will no doubt contribute to a weekend of
fine football.

I am personally looking forward to playing against good players on a
pitch that is of the highest standard and I am sure the visiting teams
will be surprised at the quality of the pitches and facilities.

Whatever the outcome of the tournament - and we will do our best to
pick up a trophy - it will be a magnificent event for all participants
and spectators."

On Saturday 19th September the Thanyapura VFL team took part in a small 5 team Thai 7's Warm Up at Headstart School in kathu, phuket. Our VETS played the other 4 teams twice in a double round robin in 10 minute matches so we had 80 minutes of football to endure in soaring temperatures!
This was the first time that the team had played together in an competitive environment and even though we were missing a couple of players the team showed that they would be no walk overs come the real tournament on 3rd and 4th December. Everyone had a great time and communication and team work appeared to improve in every match. We finished with a record of 1 win, 3 draws and 4 losses but every game was a close affair with on 1 or 2 goals in it. Thanks to all the players who took part and we look forward to seeing you all at our final team practice on Monday 28th November at TSLC.

**VFL TOURNAMENT PRACTICE STARTS TONIGHT 6.30PM**

VFL is back again this evening on the Big Pitch at TSLC. Players representing the Thanyapura VFL team in the upcoming Thai 7's tournament will be attending but all players over 35 years old are welcome. Session begins at 6.30pm and runs until 8.00pm. Price for non tournament players is 200THB.
