Skateboarding/ Surfskating helps surfing because it lets you practice the exact same movements on land, over and over. The carving and pumping train your body to turn naturally, so when you’re on a wave, you don’t have to think—it just happens.

It also improves balance and control. The loose feel of a surfskate forces you to stay centered, which is exactly what you need on a moving wave. At the same time, it builds strength in your legs and core, so your turns become more powerful and stable.

But the biggest advantage is repetition. In the ocean, you might only get a few good waves. On a surfskate, you can repeat the same motion dozens of times in minutes. That’s how you develop flow, timing, and confidence much faster.
