บางครั้งกีฬาไม่ได้สอนแค่เรื่องของชัยชนะ
มันสอนให้ผมรู้ว่า ในโลกความจริง ต่อให้เราพยายามเต็มที่ ทำทุกอย่างถูกต้อง และยอมเสียสละมากแค่ไหน ก็ไม่ได้แปลว่าเราจะได้รับความแฟร์เสมอไป
บางครั้ง วันที่ยากที่สุด ก็กลายเป็นวันที่สอนเรามากที่สุด
Final decision เมื่อวาน คือ ผมจะไม่ได้ลงแข่งขัน IAME Asia Round 4 ที่ Macau
ผมติดสอบ IGCSE ซึ่งเป็นการสอบในระบบ UK ที่จัดสอบพร้อมกันทั่วโลก และไม่สามารถเลื่อนได้ ทางโรงเรียนได้ส่งอีเมลและเอกสารยืนยันอย่างเป็นทางการให้ผู้ปกครอง และทางพ่อแม่ได้ส่งต่อให้ผู้จัดและสนาม เพื่ออธิบายสถานการณ์อย่างชัดเจน
แผนเดิมของผมคือ:
สอบเสร็จคืนวันศุกร์ → เดินทางทันที → ไม่ซ้อม → ไม่จับเวลา → ลง Heat เลย
ทีมและครอบครัวยอมรับทุกข้อเสียเปรียบ
ผมยอมเริ่มจากท้ายแถว
เพราะผมไม่ได้ขอสิทธิพิเศษ
ผมแค่ขอโอกาสในการลงแข่ง
แต่หลังจากนั้น ตารางการแข่งขันมีการเปลี่ยนแปลงหลายครั้ง
นักแข่งเพิ่ม → Qualifying ถูกเลื่อนมาเป็นวันศุกร์
จากนั้น Heat ก็ถูกเลื่อนมาเป็นวันศุกร์อีก
และสุดท้าย ผมไม่ได้รับอนุญาตให้ลงแข่งขัน โดยอ้างอิง FIA regulation
ผมเข้าใจว่ากฎมีไว้เพื่อทุกคน
หากกฎระบุว่านักแข่งต้องเข้าร่วม Qualifying Procedure
แต่คำถาม คือ
กฎนั้นเปิดช่องให้มี Discretionary Decision หรือไม่
เปิดโอกาสให้ผู้มีอำนาจใช้ดุลยพินิจในการตัดสินใจเป็นกรณีพิเศษ หรือให้กรรมการและผู้จัดพิจารณาเป็นข้อยกเว้นตามสถานการณ์หรือไม่
เช่น
• Force Majeure — เหตุสุดวิสัย หรือเหตุการณ์ที่อยู่นอกเหนือการควบคุม
• Exceptional Circumstances — สถานการณ์พิเศษที่มีเหตุอันสมควร
• Stewards Discretion — ดุลยพินิจของคณะกรรมการตัดสินการแข่งขัน
• Sporting Waiver — การผ่อนผันข้อกำหนดการแข่งขันเป็นกรณีพิเศษ
เพราะการอ้างกฎ และการตีความกฎ อาจไม่ใช่เรื่องเดียวกันเสมอไป
ระหว่างทาง ผมกับครอบครัวพยายามปรับตัว ยอมรับทุกข้อเสียเปรียบ และพยายามทำทุกอย่างตามกติกา
แต่สุดท้าย ผมก็ไม่ได้รับโอกาสนั้น
เรื่องนี้ทำให้ผมได้เรียนรู้อีกอย่างว่า…
การเป็นผู้ใหญ่ ไม่ใช่แค่การมีอำนาจในการตัดสินใจ
แต่คือการไม่ลืมว่า ทุกการตัดสินใจ มีคนอยู่ปลายทางเสมอ
วันหนึ่งเมื่อผมโตขึ้น ผมสัญญากับตัวเองว่า ผมจะไม่เป็นผู้ใหญ่ที่ลืมความรู้สึกของคนอื่น การใช้อำนาจให้ถูกทาง
สุดท้าย ผมอยากขอบคุณพ่อ แม่ ทีม และทุกคนที่พยายามเพื่อผม
ขอบคุณที่สู้ทุกทาง ขอบคุณที่ไม่ยอมแพ้ และขอบคุณที่พยายามจนถึงวินาทีสุดท้าย
และผมอยากขอโทษ…
เพราะผมรู้ว่ามีค่าใช้จ่ายมากมายที่ไม่สามารถ refund ได้ ทั้งตั๋วเครื่องบิน รถ โรงแรม และอีกหลายอย่าง
ผมเสียใจที่ทุกคนพยายามอย่างเต็มที่แล้ว
และผมไม่อยากให้ใครรู้สึกว่าทำเพื่อผมไม่มากพอ
ผมจะกลับมาแข็งแกร่งกว่าเดิม เจอกัน สนามหน้า!
Sometimes sport doesn’t only teach us about victory.
It has taught me that in the real world, no matter how hard we try, no matter how much we do everything right and make sacrifices, it does not always mean we will receive fairness in return.
Sometimes, the hardest days become the days that teach us the most.
Yesterday’s final decision was that I will not be racing at IAME Asia Round 4 in Macau.
I had IGCSE examinations, which follow the UK system and are held simultaneously worldwide, making it impossible to reschedule. The school sent an official email and supporting documents to my parents, and my parents forwarded them to the organisers and the circuit to clearly explain the situation.
My original plan was:
Finish my exam Friday night → travel immediately → no practice → no qualifying → go straight into the Heat.
My team and family accepted every disadvantage.
I accepted starting from the back of the grid.
Because I was not asking for any special treatment.
I was only asking for an opportunity to race.
But after that, the race schedule changed multiple times.
More drivers entered → Qualifying was moved to Friday.
Then Heat sessions were moved to Friday as well.
And eventually, I was not allowed to compete, based on FIA regulations.
I understand that rules are there for everyone.
If the rules state that drivers must participate in the Qualifying Procedure,
then my question is:
Do those rules allow for Discretionary Decisions?
Do they allow decision-makers to use their judgment in exceptional cases, or allow officials and organisers to consider exceptions based on circumstances?
For example:
• Force Majeure — circumstances beyond control or unavoidable events
• Exceptional Circumstances — special situations with reasonable justification
• Stewards Discretion — the discretion of race officials to make case-by-case decisions
• Sporting Waiver — special exemption from competition requirements
Because applying rules and interpreting rules are not always the same thing.
Throughout this process, my family and I kept adapting, accepting every disadvantage, and trying to do everything according to the rules.
But in the end, I was not given that opportunity.
This experience taught me something else…
Being an adult is not just about having the power to make decisions.
It is about not forgetting that every decision has people on the other side affected by it.
One day when I grow up, I promise myself that I will not become an adult who forgets other people’s feelings, and that I will use authority in the right way.
Lastly, I want to thank my parents, my team, and everyone who tried for me.
Thank you for fighting every possible way, thank you for not giving up, and thank you for trying until the very last moment.
And I want to say sorry…
Because I know there were many expenses that could not be refunded, including flights, transportation, hotels, and many other things.
I feel sad that everyone already tried their best.
And I do not want anyone to feel that they did not do enough for me.
I will come back stronger.
