Diving is safe as long as you follow the rules.
And decompression sickness (DCS) is something you should be aware of.
Your body is still adjusting hours after you surface… and bubbles aren’t just “a little discomfort”.
They can cause:
- joint pain
- extreme fatigue
- dizziness
- numbness
- paralysis
- in rare cases, life-threatening complications
DCS is rare. But rushing your post-dive routine increases unnecessary risk.
That’s why, as a general rule, wait 24 hours before:
✈️ Flying
🏔️ Going to altitude
🏋🏽 Intense workouts
🤿 Breath-hold diving
🔥 Extreme heat exposure
So what should you do after diving?
Chill. Hydrate. Eat well. Take a light walk. Listen to your body.
