BCC Open included in the FIDE Circuit!
Winners of the 23rd BCC Open should be delighted that their rewards include points on the FIDE Circuit, part of the selection process for the Candidates. IM Dau Khuong Duy’s win gives him 3.85 points and 65th in the current rankings (at time of publishing). GM Brandon Jacobsen, already having 2.8 points, moves up to 39th place.

Other beneficiaries are GMs Ganguly, Short, Van Wely, Stremavicius and Gorshtein, and IM Aronyak Ghosh (who also achieved a GM norm).

Rankings can be found on the FIDE Circuit page.

ASEAN Age Group+ has open and senior categories with a significant prize fund

The prestigious 24th ASEAN+ Age Group Chess Championships will be held in Singapore from 7 to 17 August 2026. The event will feature 16 junior categories (Under-6 to Under-20), alongside senior categories for players aged 50+ and 65+. In addition, there will be a Premier Open tournament for players rated 2000 and above, as well as a Challenger section for those rated below 2000.

Set in one of Asia’s most dynamic and accessible cities, participants can look forward to a seamless tournament experience complemented by Singapore’s vibrant culture, diverse cuisine, and world-class infrastructure—making it an ideal destination for both competition and leisure.

The Championships are expected to draw an exciting field of participants not only from the ASEAN region but from around the world. Players will compete for coveted titles and norms in the age-group events, alongside attractive prizes in the Premier and Challenger sections.

Singaporeans, Permanent Residents, and players with the SGP flag in their FIDE profiles may find more information and register via the Singapore Chess Federation website (https://singaporechess.org.sg/24th-asean-age-group-chess-championships/)

All other participants should register in accordance with the procedures outlined in the official rules and regulations on the FIDE website: https://calendar.fide.com/calendar.php?id=9369

We look forward to welcoming friends from around the world to Singapore this August and wish all participants an exciting tournament filled with memorable games!
