WHO IS TEACHING OUR BOYS TO BECOME MEN?
Growing older happens naturally. Growing into manhood requires intentional guidance.
In this interview, Coach Sakan Lam and I explore why rites of passage still matter—and what boys need from their fathers, families and communities as they grow towards courage, character, responsibility and purpose.
Drawing from our backgrounds in youth development, coaching and traditional martial arts, we discuss:
• Why many boys struggle with identity and direction
• What a healthy rite of passage can offer
• The important role fathers and mentors play
• How martial arts can teach discipline, courage and self-control
• Why becoming a man is about more than age or physical strength
• How families can intentionally mark a boy’s transition into young manhood
This September, we will bring these ideas to life through our Family Rite of Passage Bootcamp in Chiang Mai.
📅 6–8 September 2026
📍 Chiang Mai, Thailand
👨👦 For fathers, sons and families
The three-day journey combines martial arts, outdoor adventure, guided conversations, reflection and meaningful father–son experiences. It can be adapted according to each family’s values and faith, as well as the son’s age, maturity and readiness.
