ขบวนแห่ลูกแก้ว พิธีบรรพชาสามเณร ภาคฤดูร้อน : วัดเชียงยืน
ประเพณีบวชสามเณรภาคฤดูร้อน มีรากจากพระพุทธศาสนา ตั้งแต่สมัย พระพุทธเจ้า โดยสามเณรองค์แรกคือ พระราหุล ซึ่งเป็นแบบอย่างของการฝึกวินัยและการเรียนรู้ตั้งแต่วัยเยาว์
เมื่อพระพุทธศาสนาเข้าสู่ไทยใน สมัยสุโขทัย ภายใต้ พ่อขุนรามคำแหงมหาราช วัดกลายเป็นศูนย์กลางการศึกษา การบวชจึงเป็นส่วนหนึ่งของชีวิตชายไทย
ต่อมาใน สมัยรัตนโกสินทร์ ได้ปรับเป็นการบวชช่วงปิดเทอม เพื่อให้เยาวชนได้ฝึกวินัย ศึกษาธรรม และสืบทอดวัฒนธรรมไทยจนถึงปัจจุบันThe summer novice ordination tradition in Thailand has its roots in Buddhism, dating back to the time of Gautama Buddha, who allowed young boys to be ordained as novices to learn discipline and the teachings of the Dharma. The first novice was Rahula, symbolizing early spiritual training and a simple way of life.
As Buddhism spread to Thailand, especially during the Sukhothai period under the support of King Ramkhamhaeng, temples became centers of education. Ordination was a common path for boys to gain knowledge and moral grounding.
In the Rattanakosin period, the tradition evolved into short-term ordination during school holidays, making it more accessible. Today, summer ordination offers youth a chance to cultivate discipline, earn merit, and stay connected to Thai cultural and spiritual heritage
