From a little boy glued to video games to a young man who now walks into the ring with quiet confidence and a warrior’s heart, this is Siam “Hiker” Sanchez.
Since joining Mongkon Academy back in 2019, when our gym was just getting started, Siam has grown into so much more than a fighter. He’s respectful. He’s humble. He works hard when no one’s watching. And on Saturday, in front of everyone, all of that hard work showed.
This was Siam’s 3rd fight, his first two coming against game-style opponents, nothing quite like what stood across from him this time: a tough, aggressive Burmese athlete who came out swinging in round one. But Siam didn’t panic. He used his footwork, controlled distance, and stayed patient, turning his opponent’s aggression into an opportunity.
Then in round two, he found his moment: a perfectly timed left hook that stopped the fight and lit up the crowd.
Siam, we are so proud of you. Not just for the win, for the boy you were, the man you’re becoming, and the example you’re setting for every young athlete coming up behind you at Mongkon Academy. Your family here couldn’t be more impressed with how far you’ve come, and we can’t wait to see where you go next.
