Yesterday, I attended my daughter’s dance competition.

She didn’t win any prizes that day.
But I was incredibly proud of her.

Because winning wasn’t what mattered most.

What mattered was the months of practice, the discipline of showing up every day, and the courage it took for a young child to step onto a stage alone and perform in front of so many people.

As I watched the competition, I saw many different expressions among the children.

Some were beaming with joy after winning a prize.
Some looked disappointed and sad.

But to me, every child who stepped onto that stage was already a winner.

They showed courage.
They showed commitment.
They tried.

As a pediatrician, I often remind parents (including myself) that childhood is not only about achievements or medals.

It is about building confidence, resilience, and the courage to try again.💪🏻

And sometimes, the biggest victories are the ones without trophies.🏆

📍Improvisation in our contemporary dance class is not just about free movement or creativity on stage.
It is a space where students learn to pause, listen, and be with themselves.

Through improvisation, children develop the ability to feel their breath, sense their body, and respond to music in the present moment. This is more than dance technique.

❤️it is a mindful skill.

In a world that moves so fast, we intentionally create moments where they can slow down, trust their inner voice, and build self-awareness.

Because being able to stay with yourself …calmly, confidently, and consciously ….is a life skill that goes far beyond dance.

The 2026 Orientation Program of Cala Dance Studio, led by the founder of the studio.

It also includes a guided bonding activity designed to foster unity and mutual respect among students. As part of this activity, advanced ballet student demonstrate and guide younger students in the proper preparation of a ballet bun hairstyle, emphasizing discipline, presentation, and respect for ballet tradition.
