Mutants drop out in another Semi final showdown!

"Every new beginning is some old beginning's end"

2026 has been a good year for the Mutants, defeating some of the perennial powerhouses of the Thailand cricket circuit, reaching the Semi Finals of the Bangkok Cricket League, stellar individual performances from players are some of the highlights.

Welcome to the Mutants - Rewind of 2026!

Uncertainty loomed as the 50 Over league was in jeopardy but then a truncated T25 tournament was launched which made it more user friendly to most teams, considering the sweltering heat in Thailand.

A season in Scores...

Mutants start the season in a blockbuster
Match #1: Pakistan Cricket Club Thailand
Result: A Tie!!!
Scores: 143 a piece
A match that had it all, the ultimate rollercoaster (Or at least we thought at the time - Spoiler alert Match #6)

Match #2: TNCC-Thailand
Result: A convincing win
Scores: TNCC 101/10 - MCC 104/6
A great effort from TNCC to try and defend a low total but MCC had the goods and delivered

Match #3: TCC
Result: A resounding win!
Scores: MCC 196/6 - TCC 161/7
It doesn't get bigger than this.

Match #4: Southerners
Result: Perhaps the sweetest of them all
Scores: MCC 146/9 - SCC 111/10
A monumental win!!!

Match #5: Bangkok Blues Cricket Club
Result: An absolute walloping! Coetzee carnage claims casualties!!!
Scores: Blues 200/9 - MCC 40/10
Not our brightest day but a necessary one

Match #6: Trailblazers Cricket Club Bangkok
Result: Second Loss of the season
Scores: TB 202/6 - MCC 159/10
Broken and bent, we retreated, recovered, reset and re-emerged

Match #7: Pattaya CC
Result: Mama Mia, bring the toys out
Scores: MCC 201/9 - Pattaya 196/6
Final ball/over thrillers don't get much better than this!!!

Match #8: BCC
Result: Mutants with the most emphatic come back to seal the win over Bangkok's most decorated club
Scores: MCC 150/10 - BCC 102/10
A modest first innings total and the opposition in pursuit went from 93/3 to dust

Match #9 - Elimination Final: Southerners
Result: Heartbreak
MCC 165/8 - SCC 167/6
Jacobs jabs his side to victory!

Most Wickets: Neeraj Sodhi (17) - A standout performance from the Leggie ( #3), bested only by Jaysooriyam ( #2) and Jandre Coetzee ( #1) with 18 wickets each in the overall rankings
Most Catches: Nirucha Sodhi (6)

Throughout the season Mutants showed growth in character and stood tall in the difficult times, embracing challenges with grit and a brotherhood that had each others backs who will not surrender!

A Match Made In Heaven!
Bangkok Blues Cricket Club a Bangkok Cricket League - BCL behemoth up against Mutants Cricket Club a team on the rise!

The Blues boast a strong lineup that features several Thai National superstars, the likes of legendary left arm sultans of swing Jandre Coetzee and Mukesh Thakur
Austin Lazarus walks into any team eyes closed,
Usman Shahid Mr. Cool with the destructive ability of the Hulk, are amongst the few of many players to look out for.

Mutants have an entourage of up and comers to be excited about,
Skipper Nick Janes pulled of two remarkable wins against Thai CC and the Southo's - known for his leadership, he is also easily one of the most pleasant batters to watch with the ability to shift into overdrive,
Subrato Ghosh has punished the best bowlers in town,
Neeraj Sodhi a Thai national who picked up a Michelle in the previous game against the Southo's - fair to say, he is in red hot form,
Nopphon Senamontree... if you dont know this name, you might want to rethink your title as a "Thailand cricket fan"

Mutants CC go storming into the Finals!
What this team accomplished on a Saturday morning was nothing short of extraordinary!!!

A horse short from the onset of this perilous journey, the carriage weighed heavy with the hopes and dreams of many.

10 strong, pulling in the same direction, with every twitch of muscle fiber, every drop of sweat and blood, every ounce of energy and courage they could muster - overcoming the impossible and reaching the Grand Final to be played on 25/01/2026.

Bullets from an action packed Match 1 vs PCC :
The Warrior's Way!

🪙 Toss won by PCC and they batted first
- Raina rolling back the years with a full run up and early breakthroughs
- Nopphon Senamontree makes his Mutants debut - Thailand's all time leading wicket taker dismisses the dangerous Saad Akbar as PCC stumble out of the blocks

- *PCC 28/4 in 5.2 Overs*

- Form is temporary but class is permanent - Rana Waseem and Adnan Ahmad both bringing up their half centuries
- Nick Janes plucks one out of thin air to send back Adnan - A caught and bowled that was worthy of "repeat slow-mo replays" on prime time tele
- From the other end: Nopphon dismisses Rana - Partnership broken, Mutants with the upper hand once again

- *PCC 138/6 in 19.5 Overs*

- Nirucha and Subrato clean up the rest
- PCC bowled out inside their allotted quota of overs
- Only 3 batters from PCC made it to double digits
- A disciplined bowling display from the Mutants with 6 wides (considering there was a 5WD in there)

*END OF 1st INNINGS - PCC 143/10 IN 22.2 OVERS*

- Mutants needed 144 for victory at the half way stage of the game
- Nick Janes and Subrato Ghosh steady the ship after Avneesh Chopra was dismissed cheaply

- *Mutants 52/3 in 7.5 Overs*

- Raina joins Janes to put on a 49-run partnership
- Saad Akbar brought in to slow the run rate down
- THE TURNING POINT: 15th over with drinks scheduled at the end of the over, Saad tosses one up in line with the stumps Raina with a sweep shot that's middled almost to perfection, the ball not going more than 10-15 feet off the ground is sailing towards the boundary until Shoaib Shah who stood like a statue with his hands moving slightly to his left....

- *Mutants 101/4 in 14.5 Overs*

- PCC with a fightback as they usually do picking up another wicket
- Meanwhile, Nick Janes is watching all this from the non-strikers end until he succumbs to the pressure that forces him to play a rash shot

- *Mutants 111/6 in 19.3 Overs*

- Pandemonium ensued
- 2 to win, 1 to tie, final ball of the game to be bowled by former Thailand National Naveed Pathan...

In "The End" both teams fought hard to walk away with a point each, well done to PCC and our lads for putting on one heck of a show.
These types of games aren't for the weak and timid, The Way of the Warrior was unearthed, the invitation to tread upon it was laid out and The Mutants have answered that call.

🏟 Set to take place at the T**d Thai Cricket Ground on the 📅 10th of January 2026 at ⏰️ 13.00 hours.

Bangkok Cricket League - BCL T25 Premier Division starts this weekend!!!

📸 Another season for The Mutants to look forward to.
A revised format and calendar sees the Premier competition reduced to 25 overs per side which might work in favor of the Mutants, a couple of new additions to the team, reinforced batting and bowling lineups, as the younger Mutants start to knock on the doors, three U-18's are in this season's squad adding the exuberance of youth to the mix.

As always, we appreciate the support and we will be better than yesterday!
