The authors of the study proved that this effect allows you to link the behavior of a person with his perception from society. This makes it easier to join the team or a new circle of communication. All hypotheses were tested and confirmed in different situations: two unfamiliar people unconsciously copied each other's gestures.

Intentional copying of poses and movements contributed to a more smooth interaction within the group and increased sympathy.

People prone to empathy and compassion showed the effect of chameleon to a greater extent.

In 2017, a study was published that a single point of view improves social interactions. During the experiment, scientists have proven that when discussing some kind of problem, a person unconsciously begins to copy gestures and facial expressions of people who share his opinion, as opposed to those who do not agree with him. The most distinct effect of the chameleon manifested itself in such gestures like shaking legs and gesticulation by hand.

Finally, in 2021, a group of scientists from Italy decided to find out how the effect of chameleon is manifested in people when using a mobile phone.

The project team watched 88 women and 96 men in 820 different situations in vivo: parks, restaurants, public transport, waiting rooms. Researchers wanted to find out how many of the experiment participants will begin to look into their phones after someone nearby do.
