Thank you so much Felix, for your sincere support and appreciation of our team 💙
I just completed my Open Water certification with Kon-Tiki Krabi, and I cannot say enough good things about the crew.
During our final day, I became ill after the second dive, and the staff repeatedly checked on me to make sure I was okay. Unfortunately, shortly thereafter, we were then caught in a severe storm with intense winds and swells that, at times, genuinely felt dangerous.
Through it all, Libby and Andres remained calm, professional, and decisive. When conditions rapidly deteriorated, they safely moved us into the captain’s cabin and coordinated quickly with Steve to ensure everyone could get back safely. At one point, despite the boat being violently whipped by the wind and several guests becoming frightened, Andres calmly went back out into the storm to gather life jackets for everyone onboard.
The crew also handled an extremely difficult transport situation involving a longtail boat operator trying to demand additional money during already unsafe weather conditions.
What impressed me most, however, was what happened afterward. Once only the crew and I remained onboard, Libby and Andres encountered a larger vessel carrying a distressed young woman whose companions had been out kayaking when they were caught by the storm. Without hesitation, they took charge of the situation, brought her onboard, reassured her, and made arrangements to safely return her to Ao Nang.
Even after what must have been an exhausting and stressful day, Libby showed incredible compassion — giving the woman her own rain jacket and sandals and making sure she was escorted safely to reunite with loved ones.
I am genuinely humbled by the courage, professionalism, and humanity this crew demonstrated. Libby and Andres are young, but they displayed remarkable composure, judgment, and leadership under pressure. I also want to thank the Thai mechanic and boat driver who helped get us home safely.
Thank you as well to Angela for being so prompt and communicative throughout the entire process, and to Steve not only for coordinating logistics during the storm, but also for taking the time to give me thoughtful recommendations on other places and operators to dive with in the future. At the time I am writing this review, Kon-Tiki Krabi seems to be the only operation here that takes snorkelers/divers out to destinations on a larger vessel, instead of via longtail boats, which don’t fare as well in the chop or high wind conditions.
I would absolutely recommend Kon-Tiki Krabi to anyone considering diving in Thailand.
