How to read greens and putt.

Keep reading - the fastest way to start making more putts is to stop guessing the line and use a simple repeatable green reading routine.
Step 1: Read from behind the ball
From behind your ball, picture the ball rolling to the hole. Identify which side is low. The putt will always want to break that way.
Step 2: Walk halfway and feel it with your feet
Stand about halfway between ball and hole and feel the slope. Which foot feels heavier is the downhill side. This is where most golfers miss the real break.
Step 3: Read from behind the hole
Now look back from behind the cup toward your ball. This helps you see the final few feet of break and whether the putt is dying or gaining speed near the hole.
Step 4: Pick a start line and a spot
Pick an intermediate target 6 to 12 inches in front of your ball on the line you want to start it. Aim your putter at that spot.
Step 5: Commit to speed
Most putts are missed on speed, not line. Good speed makes the break predictable. Pick a roll that would finish about 12 to 18 inches past the hole if it missed.
Quick tip:
If you keep missing low, you are under reading or hitting it too soft. If you keep missing high, you are over reading or hitting it too firm. Adjust one thing at a time.
