This is Shutterstock's take on where design trends are going for 2021 which is quite fascinating (at least to me). They are basing this all on the images that have been downloaded from their library so it is real data rather than hypothesis. What I see here is a huge shift to what I would describe as colourful, uplifting and playful. Certainly a huge move to more surreal images over well defined which is perhaps, and not unexpectedly, a result of being locked in and that inspiration is coming more from the wilds of our minds rather than the fixed world outside. Also a huge expression of diversity with no one culture dictating over all the others. Quite exciting and lots of inspiration here. Do explore.

Is it really possible to start with little more than a laptop and build a billion-dollar company? Houzz.com is just that. It was started as a small website by a husband and wife team in 2009 where they could collect ideas for their own home remodelling and find the right contractors to deliver on that idea. Ten years on its now a company valued at 2bn USD and employes over 1,000 people. What's interesting is that they never set out to build a multi-billion-dollar company. They were architects with a passion for unique design and building wonderful homes. The secret here is to always start with something you are passionate about - or your superpower as I like to call it. Even if you don't end up as billionaires you will end up with a business that you enjoy and are proud of which is something of infinite value.

Images are a crucial part of any digital web content. They both help consumers get the message quicker. They also help you get your pages ranked - for example, a page needs a least one image to get ranked on google. The best images are ones you take yourself. Several people have asked me about how to build their own education empires. Online learning is a huge 1/4tr dollar industry and there are many platforms they have sprung up that host courses created by individuals. The best course creators make several million dollars a year. The advantage a platform is that it has a built-in audience, tools to help create the course as well and some have marketing resources as well...the disadvantage is they charge high monthly fees or take a high commission. They are great to get started though.

I would suggest Udemy.com for your first course as it's free though commissions can be high (but follows the risk time, not money philosophy that I teach).

Once you have a following you can branch out to fee-paying site as well as build your own site which you can completely control. There is an article here that lists all the options though beware that this contains affiliate links so probably over promotes those that pay the most commission to affiliates.
