The Sandriver Fundraising Competition 2026 held this past weekend was a great success, bringing together anglers from across Eswatini and South Africa to support the Eswatini Angling Association and to revel in our renowned dam. The event showcased not only the passion for angling but also the generosity of sponsors and participants who made it possible.
The organisers extend heartfelt thanks to all sponsors whose support turned this event into a memorable occasion. Special appreciation goes to Eagles Nest, The Fridge Factory, FUCHS, Elangeni Poultry, Hungry Lion, Pick'N'Pay, Toolrite, Custom Bait Shack, Explores, Willows Lodge, Outdoor Paradise, Eswatini Breweries, Rig Tog and Mbilibi Towing and The Rolling Pin. Their collective sponsorship made it all possible and allowed us to award prizes down to the 10th place.
The Sandriver Fundraising Competition organisers are already looking forward to next year’s event, with hopes of building on this momentum and continuing to grow the competition. The winning anglers on the day were Wimpie Bouwer in 1st with a 4.4kg bass, in 2nd was Jaco Stroh with a 3.1kg bass and Morgan Rudd in 3rd with a 2.9kg bass. The coveted Biggest Barbel Prize, a highlight of the competition that drew much excitement among participants, was also a success with Curtis Mathews weighing in a winning 6.8kg barbel.
Huge shout out to our weigh master Rasta and his partner who endured a journey to help us, we appreciate your efforts
