My name is Abigail Simelane

Currently I play volleyball and netball for correctional teams

Positions played: In netball I have played Center for 11years and now m playing WA…… in Volleyball I’ve played Central, power n opposite

Which positions you love: In netball I loved playing Center of course then in Volleyball I love playing Center

Your biggest achievements in both sports:My biggest achievement in netball was winning the league 10times in a row and also representing the country in Singapore where we came back with a Silver medal
My biggest achievement in volleyball was my team winning zone 6 championships in Durban 2018, which was the first of its kind in the country

Who inspires you to keep going in both sports: It is my volleyball coach, Phampetha…He believes in every player,he also make me believe I can do it, challenges me to grow evryday and also supports me on hard days.. I also consult to him even when having challenges or bad days in netball and tells me how important to respect both sports and all coaches.
It’s consistency, if u don’t have a perfect day does not mean u not great, u also great on ur bad days too.
Discipline, going for training even if u don’t feel like🙏

3 started playing vb 2003 Zombodze high as settler. Became part of Correctional sunrise vb 2013. 2016 became manager up to date
4. Being a manager is like being a father to your family where you have to meet all your children’s demands. Manager must have the love of the sport so that you can understand your players weaknesses and strengths in and outside the court.
5. ⁠what I love about my teams is that they are so committed to the sport. Every minute, second of training they are willing to learn to become better players . They fight or loose as a team. They have made an absolute great manager.
6. ⁠as a young upcoming player you must have a heart to learn and listen to coaches. Always take all criticism positive and learn from them, then you will definitely become a great player one day.

2015 when i joined Bobcats coming from Zakhele i was a power hitter Musa Mjemba Khathwane was our player coach advised me to take the role since i was the shortest in the team

4. ⁠what attributes are needed in being one of the best in this position?

Hardwork in training, positive energy, consistency & having faith.

5. ⁠how do you control your teams defence

By having a good relationship with my teammates , commanding them & also listening whenever they have an idea that will make me defend a certain attack easily

6. ⁠how do you run your teams offence

Proper pass & motivating the attackers to try again if it happens they fail to convert.

7. ⁠important of positive energy as a player to your team

Positive energy wins games, my coach usually says we are linked as a chain once that bond is broken then the team will not function well. So if one is struggling we have to motivate him

Consistant Training, decipline & positivity.. Nothing comes easy walk that extra mile. Listening to your coaches & Applying will fasten your development
