Former Aweil Students’ Association Chairperson Ariath Ngong Akok Issues Clarification and Apology Over Appeal to Governor Charles Madut Akol
Mr. Ariath Ngong Akok, Former Chairperson of the Aweil Students’ Association, has issued an official clarification and apology following the public reactions to his recent appeal to H.E Charles Madut Akol, Governor of Northern Bahr El Ghazal State.
In the statement dated August 3, 2026, Mr. Ariath addressed concerns that arose after he submitted an appeal requesting the implementation of a Premio vehicle promise made by the previous state administration under H.E Simon Ober Mawut.

1. Purpose of the Appeal: Mr. Ariath stated that his intention was “simply a formal request, as a former student leader, to remind the government of a pending commitment made to Him. He emphasized that it was not meant to create division.

a). On Governor’s Strength: That "Governor Charles Madut Akol is weak and cannot deliver" – Mr. Ariath said this is "not my position and I do not agree with it.
b). On Political Motives: That the appeal was "a political move against" the Governor – He termed this "false" and stated he has "no political agenda against Your Excellency.
c). On Being Used: That he "might be used by those fighting with Governor Charles Madut Akol" – He clarified that he "acted independently and in good faith.
3. Apology: Mr. Ariath offered a sincere apology "for any confusion, misunderstanding, or discomfort this has caused to you, your government, and the people of NBEGs," adding that it was "never my intention.
4. Renewed Request: Despite the controversy, he reaffirmed his confidence in the Governor’s leadership and expressed hope that "H.E Charles Madut Akol will consider the appeal favorably and, in his goodwill, grant the car as previously promised to support student representation and service.
