THE NRBA RAMADAN THIRST TOURNAMENT ENDS AT A FASCINATING HEIGHT
The Northern Region Basketball Association-NRBA “Ramadan Thirst Tournament-2024” ended at a fascinating height as Biriwa Warriors triumphed over Makeni Shooting Stars in a tight encounter in the final on the 11th of April 2024 at the Makeni Wusum Basketball Court.
In a very contested four-quarters, the three-quarters produced a margin of two points when Biriwa Warriors led slightly by 2 points until the final quarter which saw the mastered piece performance by Momoh Kamara of Biriwa Warriors who was named both MVP of the Final And Best Guard of the Tournament, carried his side to victory with seven points, eight turnovers and ten assists with some dribbles and one on one creativity
Champion Biriwa Warriors hauled home Five Hundred Leones (NLe 500) as a Cash Prize. The Warriors smashed all their opponents in the Tournament to be crowned unbeaten champions.
However, runner-up Makeni Shooting Stars bagged home Two Hundred Leones (NLe 200) as Cash Prize and had another day to fight back as they bowed to Biriwa Warriors by 37 points to 27 points.
Titus Noah Kargbo of Makeni Shooting Stars won the Most Valuable Player of the Tournament, this is after he led his team to the final with a total height of 71 points in the Tournament. His teammate, Bendu Kamara clinched the Best Center of the Tournament after a powerful showpiece of twenty rebounds, 22 points, and fifteen turnovers throughout the Tournament. Abdulai Stanley Bangura of Biriwa Warriors won the Best Forward of the Tournament, after some jump hooks and layups total of 22 points in the Tournament.
The Chairman of the NRBA, Abu Mohamed Mansaray expressed appreciation for the ballers’ professionalism displayed throughout the Tournament and pledged that, this will not be the last competition noting that “This is our first activity in 2024, and it is in line with the Federation to be having basketball tournament at the regional level before the National Competition” he affirmed
