AlpineMan Xtreme Triathlon is a long distance triathlon event, organized in the heart of the Julian Alps, in the north-western part of Slovenia. The course's altitude gain of 4900 m undoubtedly governs the event’s definition as an extreme. The athletes will start their journey in Ukanc with a 3.8 km swim across Slovenia's largest permanent lake, Lake Bohinj, which is surrounded by the Lower Bohinj Mountain Ridge and Komarča head wall. After the transition in the east side of the lake, the 180 km long bike course traverses the foresty Pokljuka plateau and the Vršič pass which is the highest mountain pass in the Eastern Julian Alps, before leading the athletes into the Upper Soča valley. The last part of the bike course is located right next to the emerald green Soča River. From the second transition in Kamno the 43 km long trail run course starts with a gentle descent towards Tolmin before ascending the summit of 1922 m high Vogel from where a breathtaking panorama presents itself. The run course follows the beautiful hiking trails across the Lower Bohinj mountains, and finishes in Ribčev Laz on the eastern bank of Lake Bohinj.
