When I travel to new places for tennis conferences I love to get out and see what’s in the local area. I was recently in Slovenia and had a fun afternoon at Otočec Caste - thanks to Katja! 🇸🇮🏰

This is the only water castle in Slovenia - built in the 13th century. So much fun to walk around and wonder what life was like back then.

I had some ridiculously good apple pie and ice cream there - accompanied by some delicious 🍷.

Tennis takes you places. So much fun to explore the 🌎. Thanks Katja!

Should you serve more to the forehand❓
Novak Djokovic does.

G’day, Traditional tennis mantra dictates that the primary serve location is to your opponent’s backhand return. ✅ Then you sprinkle in some surprise serves to the forehand. The theory is that backhand groundstrokes hurt you less than forehands (correct) and that philosophy blindly carries ove...

You have probably heard the phrase “punch the volley.”

It’s not bad from an energy standpoint, but we can do better. The problem with the “punch” analogy is that energy is delivered to whatever is being punched, and it keeps driving through as the punch is delivered. If you take that concept to a volley, you end up with a really big follow-through and very little control when it matters.

That’s why “catch” is a far better analogy. With a catch, you go out in front of your body to meet the ball, and all the energy is delivered into contact, but not continuing after it. You don’t have a significant follow-through when you catch. You do when you punch.

Roger Federer was back to being, well, Roger Federer.
My analysis. ⬇️

Roger Federer has once again got the ball on a string. Federer is back to his magical best, moving through to the Shanghai Masters 1000 final with a scintillating 6-4, 6-4 victory over world number one, Novak Djokovic. The reason for the Renaissance is simple. Federer is attacking the net at will, m...
