FINAL CONFERENCE of the Sonkei, Respect in Sport, Respect in Life project

In the scope of the SONKEI project, with the help of our Turkish partner – Kargenc Kulubu – we organised the Final Conference for sports professionals, teachers and other stakeholders in the field of sport. The conference was organised at the local University’s Sports Faculty in Sakarya.

The conference was opened by the project manager of Kargenc Club, Elif Kayhan, the project manager of Športno društvo GIB (the coordinator), Katja Rudaš and the Director of the Sakarya Provincial Directorate of Youth Services and Sports, Nevzat Inanç. Berat Ezel from Kargenc Club was the moderator of the panel.

At the conference, there was a panel discussion on violence and discrimination and its prevention in sports. The panellists were:

🔹 Bruno Avelar Rosa – Tackling Violence in Sports.

🔹 Judo Baton Magali – Safeguarding and Supporting sports professionals.

🔹 Aydan Demiröz – Perspectives of a Young National Athlete about violence in sports and the expectations of young athletes for professional guidance.

On Thursday, 8.12.2022, the general information about the Erasmus+ Programme, good practices and active projects - including "𝙎𝙊𝙉𝙆𝙀𝙄 - 𝙍𝙚𝙨𝙥𝙚𝙘𝙩 𝙞𝙣 𝙎𝙥𝙤𝙧𝙩, 𝙍𝙚𝙨𝙥𝙚𝙘𝙩 𝙞𝙣 𝙇𝙞𝙛𝙚" were presented at the European Judo Union Congress (EJU Congress) in Ljubljana, Slovenia.

The conference was organised in two parts - a panel discussion of experts about violence and discrimination in sports and practical workshops for participants to present the practical tools from the SONKEI Educational kit.

"𝐀𝐋𝐋 𝐁𝐔𝐓 𝐎𝐍𝐄" 𝐠𝐚𝐦𝐞 𝐩𝐥𝐚𝐲𝐞𝐝 𝐰𝐢𝐭𝐡 𝐲𝐨𝐮𝐧𝐠 𝐣𝐮𝐝𝐨 𝐤𝐢𝐝𝐬

Our member and trainer, Toma Jelušić, played one of the games from the Sonkei Practical education tools for raising the awareness of children and youth about violence and discrimination.

He and his group chose a game called - "𝗔𝗹𝗹 𝗯𝘂𝘁 𝗼𝗻𝗲". The game was well received; the dynamic start and running around ensure a high level of excitement 🤩 for the children, and 🤔 guessing the members "hidden" by the coach arouses curiosity 🧐 and the desire to offer the correct answer. The coach deliberately chose a combination of 😎 "more popular" and 🙂 "less popular" kids so that at the end of the game, he could explain the difference in the perspective of members of the same group, which, most of the time, not everyone is aware of.

By comparing the positive feelings of children who were recognised as missing and the negative emotions of children who were not recognised or whose names the others could not remember, we tried to raise the awareness of all members about the differences within the group that sometimes go unnoticed.
