Our fishermen are devoting tireless endeavours to preserving the breathtaking natural environment in the picturesque Idrija region located at the meeting point of the prealpine and Karst worlds. They are fighting a constant battle against negligent littering, depositing of wastes and water pollution, regularly organize cleaning campaigns along river banks, and strive to arouse ecological awareness

. Thanks to their efforts as well, this part of Slovenia, reputed for its rich natural and cultural heritage, is becoming an increasing more attractive destination for numerous visitors from other parts of Slovenia and European countries. Fishing waters in this area inhabit these salmonids:
Marble trout – salmo marmoratus
Brown trout – salmo truta fario
Hybride ( between marble trout and brown trout )
Rainbow trout – salmo gairdneri
Grayling – thymallus thymallus

The Idrija fishing association manages with 86,0 ha of water areas of which 63,0 ha is aimed for sports fishing and 23,0 ha of that area is protected waters, which are aimed for breeding young fish for repopulating fishing waters

Yesterday we had the pleasure of joining Lifelong Learning Week at Idrija Primary School! 🏫🎣 We presented the work of the Idrija Fishing Club and shared our passion for flyfishing, nature, and ecological awareness with curious kids and their parents. It was a great opportunity to inspire the next generation of anglers and nature lovers. 💙🐟

Včeraj smo z veseljem sodelovali na Tednu vseživljenjskega učenja na Osnovni šoli Idrija! 🏫🎣 Predstavili smo delo Ribiške družine Idrija ter z učenci in njihovimi starši delili našo strast do muharjenja, narave in skrbi za okolje. Odlično priložnost smo izkoristili za navdihovanje mladih ribičev in ljubiteljev narave. 💙🐟

🌿💧Annual River Cleanup: Mission Accomplished! 💧🌿

Despite the chilly weather and a bit of rain, we came together once again to clean up the rivers Idrijca, Cerknica, and Kanomljica! ☔🌊 With gloves on and trash bags in hand, we tackled litter, helped restore nature’s beauty, and proved that a little rain won’t stop a great cause. 💙

A huge THANK YOU to all the amazing members of RD Idrija who showed up with determination and good vibes! 🙌 Every bottle, can, and piece of plastic removed makes a difference. 🌎✨

Let’s keep our rivers clean—see you next year! 💚♻️
