Doing everything to lose fat but still not seeing changes?⁣

Here’s what helped me drop 18% body fat (and keep it off):⁣


1️⃣ Prioritise Protein⁣

If you want to lose fat without losing muscle, you need to nail your protein intake. This was a game-changer for me back in 2014.⁣

Protein helps:⁣

✅ Keep you full (so you eat less without feeling miserable)⁣

✅ Build muscle (when paired with resistance training)⁣

✅ Fire up your metabolism (especially with strength training)⁣

If you don’t know how much protein you need vs. how much you’re eating, you’re making fat loss harder than it needs to be.⁣


2️⃣ Train With Intensity⁣

When I first started training in 2010, I was all over the place—too much variety, ticking too many boxes, overcomplicating everything.⁣

The problem? Not enough mechanical tension (aka the reps that actually matter for strength and muscle).⁣
If you’ve ever pulled an ugly face mid-rep (grunting, groaning, drop-bear noises 🐨😂), that’s mechanical tension—and those are the reps that drive results. Lean into them.⁣


3️⃣ Fuel with Carbs 🚀⁣

It took time to figure out:⁣

🍚 Which carbs digest well before training⁣

⚖️ The right amount for performance (without feeling sluggish)⁣

⏰ How timing impacts energy and recovery⁣

Most people just want a meal plan. But real results come from understanding how your body responds to different foods. ⁣

One of the most overlooked elements of becoming the healthiest version of you? Just. Keep. Turning. Up.⁣⁣
⁣⁣
You’ve heard the “consistency is key” speech a million times. Boring as hell—but true.⁣⁣
⁣⁣
In that moment you’re tempted to skip, to avoid, to tap out; you’re facing a decision. Vote for the you you’re becoming.⁣⁣

Here’s how I still show up when I least feel like it:⁣⁣
⁣⁣
1. Focus on the outcome, not the feeling⁣
⁣⁣
F*ck your feelings. They’re fleeting and optional.⁣⁣
⁣⁣
Swimming taught me this. Want to win? Then the pain—vomit-worthy exhaustion, shoulder tearing, unable to breathe lungs on fire burn is irrelevant.⁣⁣
⁣⁣
You don’t need to feel like showing up. You need to be the person who shows up.⁣⁣
⁣⁣
2. I don’t negotiate with my goals⁣
⁣⁣
If it’s on the calendar, it’s happening.⁣⁣
Tired? Busy? Not in the mood? Too bad.⁣⁣
⁣⁣
I made the decision before it got hard. That’s why it gets done.⁣⁣

3. Abundance Mindset⁣
⁣⁣
You skipped the gym for wine and bar snacks—again. Why? Scarcity thinking.⁣⁣
⁣⁣
You have 52 weekends a year. You won’t miss out by choosing nourishment over self-sabotage most of the time.⁣⁣
⁣⁣
You don’t need to inhale the charcuterie board. There’s more where that came from.⁣⁣
4. Minimum effort still wins⁣

Not every workout is a 10/10. Most of mine? 5–8.⁣⁣

But 30% effort with consistency beats 100% effort done once in a blue moon.⁣⁣

She’s stronger, clearer, calmer though only if I show up today.⁣⁣

It’s not easy being away from this amazing human. It never is. It never will be. ⁣⁣

That’s the double edged sword of love. When you realise how much love you have for someone and you’re unable to show them in person, you’re pained by the privilege of the love. ⁣⁣
⁣⁣
*A few moments of ‘ugly’ crying later*⁣⁣
⁣⁣
My mum. ⁣⁣
My homie. ⁣⁣
My B’Dawg (that’s her rapper name) ⁣⁣
My Queen B. ⁣⁣
⁣⁣
She’s always believed in me and I never truly understood the immense power of that until I became an adult and noticed that not everyone was as fortunate to have the same emotional support from their mum. Unknowingly, I think this is why people turn to me - I can impart the same belief onto others that my mother imparted onto me. ⁣⁣
⁣⁣
She has always and very firmly believed that I could do anything that I set my mind to and that nothing was impossible. ⁣⁣
⁣⁣
That has allowed me to: ⁣⁣
- start university at 16 on scholarship ⁣⁣
- learn how to sail and make the finals of the world championships within 6 months ⁣⁣
- move to Singapore with no job, barely $500 to my name, no visa and no real clue what I was going to do aside from throw myself at every opportunity possible (my mum herself moved from Canada to Australia in the same decade of life) ⁣⁣
- work with the most incredibly talented and kind hearted people in the world ⁣⁣
⁣⁣
If I loved my mum any more, it’d be classified as a mental illness and honestly? I’d wear that diagnosis like a fu***ng badge *Raised by a Bad-Ass Bonnie* badge to be precise. ⁣⁣
⁣⁣
Always balancing love with tough love, she deepened her belief in me showing me how she believed in my by helping me to become radically responsible for all areas of life which is incredibly freeing. ⁣⁣
⁣⁣
There will never be enough words. ⁣⁣
There will never be the right combination of words. ⁣⁣
⁣⁣
All I know is that I will never run out of ways to thank her. ⁣⁣

The most important job in the world; thank you to all mothers. May you feel ever so (especially) celebrated and appreciated today ❤️

5 REAL Tips to Carve Out Your Abs (No Detoxes, No Waist Trainers, No Bullsh*t)⁣

Let’s get this straight: visible abs aren’t hiding in your juice cleanse.⁣

You want definition?⁣

That means doing the unsexy stuff consistently.⁣

Here’s what you need:⁣

1. Get Your Damn Fibre In⁣

Ladies: 20–25g minimum.⁣
Men: 35–40g.⁣
Post-menopausal? This is especially for you; a bloated belly isn’t always fat it’s often fibre deficiency. Your digestive system’s not broken. It’s under-fuelled!⁣

👉 Start here: Vegetables. Legumes. Whole grains. Fruit.⁣

2. Hydrate Like It’s Your Job⁣

You don’t need another supplement, you need a glass of water.⁣

Your digestion, your energy, your skin, your abs? ⁣
All impacted by how much you drink.⁣

➡️ Baseline for active adults: 4L/day.⁣
Yes, that much. Sweat it out? Replace it double.⁣


3. Prioritise Big Lifts⁣

Crunches done well? They have their place.⁣
But most people don’t do them well and it shows.⁣

Instead: Get strong AF at squats, deadlifts, rows.⁣
These build your core by making your whole trunk musculature work hard for stability. That’s where the magic starts.⁣


4. Train the Box, Not Just the Lid⁣

Your core isn’t just your abs. It’s a box—front, back, top, bottom, sides.⁣

Crunches only train the lid.⁣
Aesthetics without stability is a recipe for injury and disappointment.⁣

Train it all.⁣


5. Nutrition is 80% of the Game⁣

You can’t out-lift your fork. If you want to SEE definition, you need to get leaner.⁣

Dialing in your intake:⁣

✅ Prioritise protein.⁣
✅ Time carbs around training.⁣
✅ Reduce/eliminate alcohol intake ⁣
