Karen Frischmann is coming to Singapore.

For more than 30 years, Karen has studied and taught Classical Pilates at the highest level, training under first-generation teachers Jay Grimes and Romana Kryzanowska, and spending decades helping teachers understand not just what to teach, but why the work is ordered the way it is. She is one of the most respected voices in Classical Pilates education today.

This June, she teaches at Altum Academy for the first time.
Three days. Four workshops. The mat, the Reformer, breath, and the seat - each examined with the rigour and depth that defines Karen’s teaching.

Most people who eventually consider teacher training did not begin with that intention.

They simply started practising. Over time, the work begins to reveal itself in different ways. You notice how the exercises relate to one another, how the system progresses, and how much patience and discipline it asks of the body.

The Altum Teacher Training Programme grew out of this understanding. We wanted to create a programme where students study the work as a system, rather than a collection of exercises to memorise. One that allows time for practice, observation, mentorship, and reflection - the things that actually shape someone into a thoughtful teacher.

Many who join begin as dedicated practitioners who simply want to understand the work more deeply. Somewhere along the way, the process becomes something else entirely. Learning to teach also becomes a way of understanding the method (and yourself) more clearly.

If the work has been quietly drawing your attention in this way, perhaps it is time to study it more seriously.

Julie () is a Classical Pilates teacher and one of Europe’s first Principal Educators for Scolio-Pilates®️, bringing extensive experience in both Classical Pilates training and scoliosis-specific education.

Scolio-Pilates®️ Professional Modules 1 + 2 are designed for Pilates teachers, physiotherapists, and movement professionals working with clients with scoliosis.
