My neighbourhood was always busy with kids riding.I first got into bikes when I was a kid, messing about with BMX (ET phone home era) and mountain biking like a lot of kids my age. I scrimped and saved just to own a Bridgestone MB-05 and a year later to an MB-Zip. I was the guy to go to if you have issues with your bicycle, skateboards, roller skates etc. Kids my age in my neighbourhood would just
show up at my house in the evening and we have a blast trying to figure out what gives for that nefarious bicycle. Many a times, frustrating but nevertheless wide grinning faces whenever we are successful and start jumping the ramps. I first set up Yap Bicycle Compania in August 2015, an opportunity many years in the making, and began servicing and overhauling bicycles in the evenings and on my days off from my regular work. There is something very special about delivering a bespoke service. From first chatting about the specific needs, ride characteristics, then hand picking the best possible parts and tools for the job. I am a complete gearhead and developed a love for fancy tools – the more specific the job the tool is used for the better. As a budding mechanic, I still building up my collection of top tools to help me deliver amazing service for Recreational bicycles to Competitive race bikes, big or small, fast or slow and old or new.
