Good news for cyclists arriving in Taoyuan Airport. From 10 March 2026, travellers can bring bicycles into all 22 Airport MRT stations.

Arriving passengers can assemble their bicycles on site after collecting them from the oversized baggage area and then wheel them through the airport and onto the Airport MRT.

1. A bicycle ticket has to be purchased. The fare is based on a combined passenger and bicycle fare system, consisting of the regular distance-based fare plus a fixed NT$50 (US$1.50) surcharge.

2. Bicycles are only permitted on commuter trains (it takes 50 mins from Taoyuan Airport to Taipei main train station with commuter train).

3. Bikes must enter, exit and be parked at the designated doors in the first and fourth cars.

4. On weekdays, bicycles are permitted during two time slots: 10 a.m. to 4 p.m., and 10 p.m. until the end of service.

5. On weekends and holidays, bicycles are permitted all day.

6. Foldable bicycles, or those disassembled and properly packed in accordance with size regulations, may be brought on board free of charge as regular luggage. This is already existing practice.

7. Updated riding information and guidelines will be available on the website starting March 10.

8. Cyclists flying out of Taiwan will still need to box up their bicycles for check in. Usually, we will box up at Taipei main station and take the 50mins bus to airport.

Running another Cargo in Burple with Shimano triple chainsets for . This will be his 40km daily commuter from the North to South-West Singapore. You will see him roaring through the hilly university campus soon ... 💪 And probably a long distance cargo-bike-packing coming soon (after Ramadan??).

Upon collecting his Omnium Cargo, he went up to Lor Sesuai, 12%. Yeah, we are in the most mountainous part of this tiny island. Good to test your bike and your legs!

Busy weekend before the Lunar New Year.

A Thorn for Rohloff servicing awaiting pickup by our Swedish friend. 19 years this well used Thorn.

A Surly Ogre and a beautiful Stanforth getting ready for packing after servicing. Elena and Charlie spent 11 months cycling from the UK to Singapore, with 3 months through China. It was home coming for Charlie as he had spent some childhood days in Singapore 20 odd years ago. Coincidentally, their first Warmshowers host in England when they started their trip told them about us. More about that in later posts.

As we rolled down our shutter, Marco from France arrived (at the recommendation of his Spore WS host). He made it just in time to buy a Shimano square tapered BB for his triple chain set - Yes, square tapered BB still exists and so do triple chainsets. 😆

And thanks to the mystery person who left a basket of fruits with THE PINEAPPLE 🍍 inside.

Roosa and Otto finally arrived in Singapore on their handmade, self-made two drivetrains recumbent tandem from Finland. The journey took them one and a half years.

We are fans of Otto's frame building before their trip (2 or 3 years ago??) and when Roosa started blogging their trip from Finland, we followed them from the beginning.

Finland has a special place in our hearts. Back in the summer of 2004, one of us, together with his childhood friend, cycled home from Europe and we started from Rovaniemi, Finland aka Arctic Circle. Home was near the Equator - Malaysia and ending in Singapore. Our journey also took us 1-1/2 years, over 25 countries and 23,000km of unknowns and uncertainties.

Best wishes to Roosa and Otto on the next leg of their journey, off the bike. By the time they land in Helsinki, temperature below zero and snow await them. Last we heard, they are cycling XX km to their new home. 🥶😅

Last week Jeremy and Lottie dropped by for some quick work on their Thorn Raven before they left for Malaysia the next day. Newly married, they flew to Australia with two pre-loved Thorn Raven and cycle toured three months before flying into Singapore to embark on their long way back home, to England.

A relatively new (at least in this region) cyclists- hosting-community where people open their garden (or available space) for cyclists to camp. Daniel introduced this to us when he stayed with a host in Northern Malaysia last year.

The co-founders (Dries & Manon) spent 3 months cycling across Morocco with their one year son, on an Omnium 😉. Check out their IG of their Morocco trip.

It's just a few days into 2026 and we received warm greetings from Daniel. Just before Christmas 2025, Daniel left Singapore and kick-started his longest ride to-date - cycling from Singapore to The Netherlands.

Ever since we built a LKLM 318 touring bike for Daniel in late 2022 (to replace his previous bike stolen in Spain during his first tour), he has gradually went on a few "short" tours - Singapore to Thailand, Across Australia, Taiwan-Japan-South Korea. Past 60 and after two major operations on his knees, Daniel decided it was time to fulfil his dream of riding overland to Europe.
