Congratulations to Cameron Alexander Tan Soliano who clinched the Men’s Sabre gold medal at the Asian Cadet Cup. His victory provided a fitting finish to a month of fencing action in August.

We also congratulate Zack Ng Hong Zhen on his bronze medal in the Men’s Singles event at the Philippines Junior International Series 2026. Zack battled his way into the semi-finals before bowing out to Malaysia’s Leong Di Shan.

Sport has the power to bring people together, and our Football Academy student-athletes experienced this first hand through their Values in Action programme. The lower secondary student-athletes supported Strike for Care, a community futsal fundraiser for seniors and caregivers, by running activity stations, engaging participants, and helping create a fun, welcoming atmosphere. Another 14 student-athletes volunteered at the Special Olympics football competition, where they assisted athletes with intellectual disabilities and supported match operations. The experience gave our footballers a deeper appreciation of empathy, inclusion and service.

Congratulations to our Secondary 1 footballer, Adyan Rayees Haffis, on receiving the Lee Kuan Yew Award for All-Round Excellence (Primary) 2026! Formerly from Bendemeer Primary School, Adyan was recognised for his outstanding achievements in both academic and non-academic pursuits, while exemplifying exemplary values and qualities.

We had an exciting month of celebrations, achievements and new experiences in August! We cheered on our Asian Games-bound student-athletes at the 20th Asian Games Send-Off Ceremony, connected with friends from Woodlands Gardens School during our National Day celebrations, and saw 28 student-athletes take to the National Day Parade stage for the very first time. On the competitive front, our student-athletes excelled on both local and international stages, securing podium finishes and setting new benchmarks, including Brandon Yap's national record-breaking performance. They also explored the new applied science programmes that will be offered from 2027 during a visit to Temasek Polytechnic. Also, our student-athletes gained insights and grew in values through various character and student development initiatives. Cutting through the water with speed and determination, our swimmers amassed a remarkable 9 medals (2 gold, 4 silver and 3 bronze) and a new national record at the Singapore National Swimming Short Course Invitational, held from 29 to 30 August 2026. Brandon Yap Yan Xi stole the spotlight in the Men’s 200m Butterfly, where he stormed to gold and broke the national record with an impressive 1:55.99s in the heats, eclipsing the previous mark of 1:56.42s set by Ong Jung Yi in 2021. Adding to the golden glow, Ian Leong Wei Sheng powered through the water to capture the Men's 400m Freestyle title in 3:50.82. Bravo to all our swimmers for your spectacular performances!

A strong showing by our footballers in Indonesia!

Our footballers put together an impressive run at the Garuda International Cup 2026 from 18 to 24 August, taking on teams from across the region in a 72-team tournament featuring 13 countries.

They opened with three straight wins:
✅ 2-1 vs ASIOP 🇮🇩
✅ 4-0 vs RKM 🇲🇾
✅ 3-2 vs ASIFA 🇮🇩

That set up a quarter-final clash against Zhenjiang from China, where the boys battled to a 0-0 draw before bowing out 2-4 in the penalty shootout.

A campaign full of fight, composure and valuable international experience. Well played, boys!

Swimmer Brandon Yap from the Diploma in Business Studies programme rewrote the National Men’s Open 200m Butterfly (SCM) record with a blazing 1:55.99 at the Singapore National Swimming Short Course Invitational 2026. Congratulations, Brandon, on a fantastic swim and a new national mark!
