Why do we learn to dance? So that we go dancing with our friends! The joy of social dance is hard to describe or pin down. It is the connection with another human being, it is the thrill of syncing your moves to a swing beat, it is the excitement of creating moves on the spot. Heck it is also the adrenaline that just keeps you going on the dance floor! We teach Lindy Hop every Monday and Thursday

We celebrated World Lindy Hop Day with the Lindy Chorus. This dance was choreographed by Frankie Manning, wanted Lindy Hoppers to have a chorus to dance together to.

Some of our Lindy 3 and 4s bravely stepped onto the stage, and for a few it was their very first time performing! 🔥 Well done to everyone who joined in!

Last Monday as part of World Lindy Hop Day celebrations, we also celebrated World Tap Day in honor of the art form of tap and Bill "Bojangles" Robinson's birthday!

This inspiring number filled with precision and clarity was created and performed by incredible tappers, a beautiful treat for the audience!

Happy birthday to Frankie Manning and Bill "Bojangles" Robinson! Two pioneers who shaped Lindy and Tap in the most influential ways!

Frankie is celebrated as the "Ambassador of Lindy Hop" who was the one to give Lindy its athletic shape and creator of the first air step. He was the chief choreographer for Whiteys Lindy Hoppers and was the driving force behind helping to bring Lindy to the forefront of the swing dances in the 1980s. Always welcoming with a big smile and an iconic laugh, he would share his knowledge generously.

Bill Robinson is credited to elevating tap with a lighter, more precise swinging rhythm. He invented and perfected the complex routine if tapping up and down a flight of stairs. He was also the first Black performer to star in both a Hollywood film as well as a Briadwat production, known also for being the highest paid and most prominent black performer in the 20th century.

Every year, Lindy hoppers and tappers across the globe celebrate on these legendary giant's birthdays and remember they joy they have brought to the world! This year, we had cake, a couple of performances inspired/created by the legends, danced to our heart's content and even had a lucky draw with drum rolls provided by the tappers!

- Thursday : 7 - 8pm
Cost: $80

2. Lindy Hop 2 (Beg-Intermediate)
- Monday: 7.30 - 8.30pm
At least 2 mths Lindy. Must know Lindy turns and Swing outs.

3. Lindy Hop 3 (Intermediate)
- Thursday: 8 - 9pm
At least 12 mths Lindy. Invitation Basis. Please fill in registration form, and we'll get in touch with you.
Cost: $80

3. Lindy Hop 4 (Intermediate-Advanced)
- Monday: 7.30 - 9pm
Cost: $120
At least 2 years Lindy. Invitation basis. Please fill in registration form and we'll get in touch with you.

4. Balboa
Balboa is a close-hold partner dance. Invitation basis. Please fill in registration form and we'll get in touch with you.
- Thursday: 9 - 10pm
Cost: $80

What is Lindy Hop?
Lindy hop is a partner dance that emerged during the 1930s and 40s in Harlem, New York alongside Big Band swing and jazz. Just like the blues, this art form rose from the Afro American community and eventually became mainstream, spreading to Europe and the rest of the world during World War II.

A joyful and improvisational dance, it is a wonderful way to connect with a partner and with music. A few simple guidelines are all you need to get you started and swinging out! For more info, visit www.swingstation.sg

25 May celebrates Bill Robinson Bojangles birthday and National Tap Day. And 26 May celebrates Frankie Manning’s birthday and World Lindy Hop Day.

Come along to enjoy our party and celebrate all the elders that left us this amazing legacy we enjoy.

There will be a Tap performance and a Lindy Chorus for everyone to join in!

And to celebrate our own “elders” we invite all Lindy Hoppers in Singapore to come along for Homecoming! Even if you haven’t danced for a long time, just come say hi and chat with the new dancers. Free entry if you started more than 10 years ago!!

These classes will prepare you for the performance and will make sure you swingouts are as sharp as your outfits.

Helmed by Hon Yee, the TTS sessions have proven to take your dance skills to the next level, as you hone your craft under watchful eyes.
