Singapore Kei Shin Kan Karate Association is happy to announce that 7 of our students, trained by Chief Instructor Shihan Jason Tan, did very well at the recent Singapore National Youth Karate Championship 2024, held on 7 Apr 2024, organised by Karate-do Union of Singapore.
None gave up.
One lost his milk tooth when he was accidentally hit in the face, but continued attacking. One fought back tears and soldiered on when she was hit in the spot where she lost a tooth the day before, but only broke down and cried after the bout.
Two fought on empty fuel tanks and big hearts, because they were fasting, but their bouts were only held in the afternoon.
Some went up against more experienced, taller and stronger competitors.
All did their best without giving up. The inner strength, resilience and fortitude that we were looking for shone through. This quality will no doubt define them and carry them into the future phases of their lives.
And in the end, all 7 came home with medals on their chests, and the sense of achievement in their hearts!
Thanks Shihan Jason Tan for your dedication and guidance to train the kids.
Thanks to the volunteer instructors and seniors who rallied to help and gave support on the actual day. This was the “Shin” in Kei Shin Kan being demonstrated, which showed that despite the recent challenges, we will press on as one.
We are also very grateful to the parents who came to help us organise and prepare their kids for the bouts. We could not have done this without you!
Thanks also to KUS for organising this championship. We are happy to support KUS, for the betterment of Karate-do in Singapore.
