Zaki was the record holder for the men’s national junior 400 metres hurdles (53.51 seconds). He hitting another lifetime best in 2013, clocking 53.44 seconds, before God have other plans for him.

Joscelin Yeo-Purcell 💪🏽💪🏽💪🏽

I was a pretty happy child growing up. That was, until I was thrust into the limelight. At a tender age of 12, I was publicly shamed for a ‘lackluster’ outing because I didn’t come home with a gold medal at my first SEA Games (I won 2 silvers and 3 bronzes). I quit swimming. My life was under a microscope. Everything I did was never good enough. Be more like this. Do that. Why are you not doing this? Why do you look like that? In a short time, I turned into a sullen young lady. I was unsure of who I was. I constantly felt pressured into fitting in with society, conforming to the image I was supposed to be as a national athlete.
People see the “gold and the glory”, but they don’t see the struggle. I found myself constantly on the run in my mind, escaping through self-inflicted pain, booze, partying and more.



Fast forward many years, I broke a world record with my relay team, won 55 medals at the SEA Games (40 of them gold), won a couple of bronze medals at the Asian Games, was awarded a Rhodes scholarship, was a former nominated member of Parliament, and am a proud mother of 4.
I learnt along the way that I was going to do what I felt passionate about, regardless if there were good days or bad days; successful days or not. I learnt along the way that I can only be me, trying to be someone else meant that I was just a walking civil war. I learnt along the way that I need autonomy otherwise I almost always take flight. I learnt along the way that I am not there yet, in life, I am truly still learning and growing, hopefully to being a better version of myself.

1. Full Operations will resume on 21 June, Monday.
2. All classes will have a max capacity of 5 pax.
3. All classes will be 45mins.
4. Monday, Tuesday, Thursday - Main Class Program.
5. Friday - Olympic Weightlifting.
6. Wednesday, Saturday & Public Holiday - General Physical Preparedness.
7. All team MUST follow strictly to the timing given.
8. Team training minimum 2pax, maximum 5pax
9. Fundamental class for public will be conducted every Friday
10. Bookings open Every Sunday @ 12pm*.

*Any booking made before Sunday 12pm will be cancel without notice.

Iron Fitness Singapore since 2011 till now.

For the past one decade, immense time and effort was vested to make this place what we now call our second home.

Thus far, we have met many from all walks of life, the good and the not so good. But of course, only through stress can a brilliant sword be forged. We treasure the precious friendships fostered along the way and are touched by those who decided to stay and watch the place grow with us.

Photo 1 / June 2011 : Iron Fitness Singapore was a private gym specially dedicated for school sports to focus on developing strength and performance. In October 2012 we officially open our doors to the public to benefit and educate more on fitness.

Photo 2 / October 2014 : A dark period for Iron Fitness Singapore which attracted excessive negative attention from the public. Struggling to stay afloat amidst all the negativity, the gym’s focus drifted from its core values. It was a nightmare but also an important lesson for the gym.

Photo 3 / April 2016 : We’ve built a place that has improved many athletes’ performance and also provided them solutions to overcome injuries without unnecessary surgery. We are glad to have played a part in their achievements of gold medals through the program designed just for them.

Photo 4 / December 2020 : We shifted to a big facility with more specialised equipments that will help improve the athletes’ performance. We specialise in designing customised programs for individual/ team sports. This includes incorporating pre-habilitation and rehabilitation exercises to lower risks of injury and focusing on strength and overall performance.

This is the journey of Iron Fitness. We will continue to Train Hard, Fight Easy.

Weekdays (Mon to Fri) - 6:30pm till 7:30pm
Weekends (Sat & PH) - 9am till 10am

Class details for members are on our Facebook private group.

For beginners who wish to attend the classes, you may DM us directly for details of purchase. $95 for 3 weeks unlimited classes and $10 for drop-in class. Upon purchase the zoom link will then be emailed to you before the class.
