🍍We often create imbalances in our own body as we are unaware of how we walk, stand, move and sit.

🍋This imbalance is amplified when we do any fitness.

🍇When we do different poses in yoga, we start to find the ‘problems’ in our body. We start paying attention to how our body move, how our body feels. We start breaking down the resistance of the body and then we can start correcting ourselves.
🍇Start building awareness in your yoga practice, be diligent in your practice and be able to identify small health issues before it becomes big.

🔷Standing twist such as parvritta parsvakonasana has many benefits:
1. Tones and massages the abdominal organs improving digestion
2. Improves functions of internal organs such as liver, kidneys, intestines
3. Alleviates backache
4. Mobilise the spine
5. Reduce fat around the waistline

🔺However, this pose comes with many challenges especially when you have tight hip flexors, buttocks, quad muscles and a rigid spine.

🔷Using a rope around the groin instantly reduces the weight of your body on your knee allowing you to bend and lengthen the spine while the ribs turn.

🔷The bent leg hip is pulled back so the glute area is broad allowing nerves to pass through without constrictions from the spine to the leg.

🔷When the arm reaches over the ears, the side trunk lengthens and intercoastal muscles are stretched, instantly soothing the nervous system.

🍋Nowadays, tight hips and shoulders are common issues and can hinder you from performing well in your sports or may cause other issues such as back, hip or knee pain.

🍎Yoga movements help to move the joints and yoga props such as chairs and blocks help you to stay in the pose so fascia, the sheet that surrounds the muscles and joints can slowly open and release the tension inside the body, allowing the body to stretch.

🍎Only when the muscles are able to stretch are they only be able to strengthen maintaining elasticity of the muscles within us.

🦄 Trying something new is always challenging and sometimes a bit scary. But it can also be fun and rewarding.
🦄 The key to getting a good result is to do the right preparation and have the right mindset to do it.
🧘🏻‍♀️ Our Yoga Practice, is always evolving. We follow the basic strong foundation, and from there we branch out and base on our experience, we discover how the right balance of muscle engagement, breath and the correct mindset can enhance our Yoga practice.
🧘🏻‍♂️Try standing on blocks in standing and standing twist poses. What difference did it make to the practice.

🌻We use chairs, ropes, blocks in our yoga classes not because we don’t know how to do the pose, but to be more engaged in the pose, to do and feel the pose better.
🌻Yoga props help to awaken our muscles, our senses and our minds as we stay in the pose.
🌻Props help us to regulate our breath, bring our attention inwards and keep the mind from being tense when practicing more challenging poses.
🧘🏻‍♀️This inward journey to ourselves, to be aware of our physical and mental state can only be made possible by consistency in Yoga practice.
🧘🏻‍♀️Do not look for big and fast rewards. The rewards from your yoga practice will naturally come as when you practice with a pure mind.
🧘🏻‍♂️Live and cherish the present moment. 🙏🏻

🌿The feeling of ‘tight hips’ is common and some of the causes are:
1. Sitting for long hours and/or
2. Stress

🌿When you sit for hours, your hips are in a flexed position. The Hip Flexors (front of hip) become short and tight.

🌿The main muscle here, the Psoas major, that connects your spine to your leg, is in a chronically shortened state.

🌿The Psoas major also connects to the diaphragm and your “fight-or-flight” nervous system via fascia, creating a direct link between your breathing, core stability and movement.

🌿When you are chronically stressed or anxious, your Psoas has a tendency to contract and guard. This creates a physical sensation of deep, visceral tightness in the front of the hips.

🌿Releasing the hips through yoga poses such as baddha konasana, eka pada raja kapotasana (pigeon pose) mobilise the hips and release stress.
