Can inflexible people start yoga?

Absolutely!
But keep a couple of things in mind:

1. Start with the right level and proper instruction.

A bad teacher or a very advanced class can turn you off yoga for a very long time!

2. Set realistic expectations.

Do not compare yourself to others.
Be patient, give it some time.
Measure how far you have come since you started.

Do you agree that being thin and being fit are two different things?

Being thin ( having low body fat) does reduce the risk of many health issues but does not guarantee physical fitness - you have to train for that!

Instead of focusing on the number on the scales, ask yourself: can you swim a mile, do 10 pull ups or 30 push ups, are you strong and mobile, do you have enough muscle mass, etc?
Those are better predictors of good health and longevity than just a small body weight.

Tech neck? Hunched back? 🧑🏽‍💻

You need chest opening and backbending! ✅

It helps to counteract the rounded posture we spend hours in daily.

I am showing an advanced backbend here- Kapotasana.

Lots of variations for beginners are available.

Disclaimer: backbends might be contraindicated for people with certain back and neck injuries.

That moment…
When you practice Lizard Pose in Botanic Gardens…

And you see your direct competitor! 😅

As 2025 comes to a close, I find myself reflecting on a year full of challenges, growth, learning and achievements.

I won’t go into details of my year but I will list here a few things I’ve learnt in 2025:

1. Prioritise yourself. People walk in and out of your life, but you are the only person who always stays. So, love and accept yourself, take care of your mental and physical health and don’t forget to fill your cup regularly with things that make you happy. After all, it’s much easier to give to others when your own cup is full.

2. Everything you do - do it with purpose and intention. That is what we call ‘living in the present moment.’ Savour every moment of your life, whether it is watching a sunset or having a cup of coffee. Do not put away things till later and rush through life on autopilot. The perfect time is not tomorrow- it is now!

3. Write at least 5-10 things you are grateful for daily. That’s an amazing practice I started this year and I highly recommend it. It shifts your focus from negative to positive and attracts more blessings into your life!

I wish you all a peaceful end of year, and a new year filled with health, purpose and shared successes.

Happy New Year! 🎉❤️

In your 40s? ✅
Have kids? ✅
Think that your best years are over and it’s all downhill from now on? ✅

Wait! Do not give up so early! 🙌🏻❌

I am all for accepting yourself for who you are, but I am against giving up on yourself! You can’t stop the ageing but you can slow it down significantly with a balanced, holistic approach. 💯

There are so many opportunities today, you just need an individual plan based on your personal situation and CONSISTENCY!

Yoga still remains my daily staple, offering multiple physical and mental benefits. First of all, it calms me amidst chaos and gives me clarity. Plus regular practice keeps the body toned and fit.
And that amazing satisfying feeling when you nail another asana or transition! 🥰

I do supplement yoga with some weight and cardio training for best results. My studies in Sports Science helped me to customise my own training to get into better shape than I was 10-15 years ago.

Being qualified in Fitness Nutrition, I also have to tell you that what you eat is probably the biggest factor in how you look and feel. So, getting all nutrients and staying within your calories range is super important as well. 🥦🥑🍎🍊🥗

I also discuss sleep quality, stress levels and lifestyle choices with my clients - all the little things count and can improve the quality of life!
