“What an incredible few days for our Kiwi Waka Ama whānau at the World Sprints right here in our own backyard. A huge ngā mihi and congratulations to every one of our KWA paddlers who took to the water and represented our club with such pride, determination and mana. Not forgetting our behind the scenes team Germain, Anis, Tomomi and anyone I’ve forgotten working tirelessly to get everyone where they needed to be seamlessly. We cannot thank you enough 🙏🏽

You all carried the KWA name and our kaupapa onto a world stage, you showed what it means to be part of our whānau. People around the world are now wearing our gear 💪🏾You supported each other, encouraged each other and competed with heart. We couldn’t be prouder. Now it’s time to put the paddles down, celebrate what we’ve achieved and enjoy the friendships we’ve made along the way.

Days 9 & 10: It was the final stretch of the World Sprints, and across the V6 500m races, our:
>>Master 60 Women,
>>Master 70 Men,
>>Master 40 Women,
>>Master 50 Men,
>>Master 50 Women and
>> Open Men … took to the water and gave every stroke their all.

From the heats and repechages to the semi-finals, every crew showed incredible determination and fought right to the finish.

A special ngā mihi nui to our Master 60 Men for making it through to the semi-finals. We are filled with pride at their tremendous display of grit and commitment. 🥹💪🔥

Days 7 & 8: It has been two big days on the water for our Kiwi Waka Ama Singapore crews! From the V6 1500m to the 1000m and 500m sprints, our paddlers continued to dig deep, support one another and give every stroke everything they had.

A special ngā mihi to our Master 60 Men V6 crew, who battled their way through to the SEMI-FINALS of the 500m sprints! It was truly an INCREDIBLE effort from the crew!

And to all our paddlers/members, whether you’re racing, supporting from the shore, or cheering your teammates on, thank you for bringing the wairua, the courage and the heart for the whānau.

Kia ora! If you’re new to us, we are an Outrigger Canoe club in Singapore! 🇸🇬 Kiwi Waka Ama Singapore was founded by a group of New Zealanders in 2019 at East Coast Park’s Beach. We celebrate the spirit of sport, culture, and community — welcoming everyone to paddle, learn waka ama, or explore kapa haka as part of our warm whānau (family).

We are not just about competing and doing well - our Kiwi kaupapa (principle) is to use our waka (canoe) as a foundation for learning, sharing and bringing together people from all cultures.

Age is really no barrier. Across days 5 and 6, our athletes from the 40s, 50s, 60s and 70s categories proudly represented Singapore, taking on some of the best international crews from around the world.
