A bit of muscle soreness, a lot of encouragement, and sometimes, a little extra push from your coaches :)

It’s these little moments that we end up remembering.

You can choose where you train to build muscles. BUT… you can’t choose where you lose fat.

That’s why doing more exercises for your arms won’t specifically burn the fat around your arms, just like doing more ab exercises won’t specifically burn belly fat.

So if your goal is to reduce body fat, there are a few things that matter more than trying to “burn” fat from one particular area:

1. Strength training
Strength training does burn some energy, but that is not its most important role in fat loss.

When you lose weight, your body can lose both fat and muscle. Resistance training gives your body a reason to keep the muscle it still needs. Combined with enough protein, this helps you preserve lean tissue, so more of the weight you lose is likely to come from fat.

2. Nutrition
Fat loss ultimately requires your body to use more energy than you’re taking in over time. Exercise contributes to the energy you use, but your overall food intake plays a major role in creating that calorie deficit.

3. Consistency
Your body fat won’t change dramatically from one workout to the next. The goal is to build habits you can maintain long enough for those small changes to add up.

So rather than doing endless exercises for the area you want to change, focus on the bigger picture: train regularly, eat sensibly and give the process time.

You can’t choose where the fat comes off first, but you can control the things that help you lose it.

Training can give you more than just physical benefits.

There’s something about learning how to move your body and challenging yourself that can be genuinely enjoyable.

You get to discover what you’re capable of, pick up new skills, and enjoy the feeling of doing something you couldn’t do before.

And sometimes, you just leave the gym feeling a little happier.

You shouldn’t be snacking… right?
Not necessarily.
Snacking is not automatically unhealthy. What matters is what you choose, how much you eat and how it fits into the rest of your day.
A useful way to assess a snack is to consider three things:
1. Does it provide a useful amount of protein?
2. Does it provide fibre?
3. Do the calories suit your needs?
You do not need to tick all three boxes every time.

Greek yoghurt provides plenty of protein but very little fibre. Eggs, tuna and chicken breast are also convenient protein options, while edamame provides both protein and fibre.

And yes, the amount still matters. If you eat the entire tub, check the nutrition for the entire tub, not just one serving.

The goal is not to avoid snacking. It is to choose snacks that nourish you, satisfy you and fit into your day.

Good coaching begins with seeing the person, not just the exercise.

Every body comes with its own story, abilities, concerns and reasons for wanting to become stronger. At Vigeo, we do not expect your body to fit an exercise. We adapt the exercise to fit you.

Our coaches pay attention to the details that matter. How you move. Where you hesitate. What you are feeling. Sometimes a small change in your stance, support, range or load is all it takes for a movement to finally make sense.

We meet your body where it is today, then give you the right challenge to become stronger tomorrow.

Because progress is not simply about lifting more weight. It is about trusting your body, moving with greater confidence and building the strength to keep living life actively and independently.

That is what caring coaching means to us.

People will always have something to say about what you can or can’t do.

“You’re too old for the gym.”
“You’re not strong enough.”
“You won’t be able to do that.”

Then there are the people who tell you the opposite: the ones who tell you to keep going, the ones who recognise your efforts and progress.

Both types of comments can stick with you for years.

The question is, which ones are you going to let define you?

We love to talk about “fitness”, but…

Are we actually thinking about the same thing?

It can mean lifting heavy, running fast, being flexible, having visible abs, hitting a certain number on your watch… the list goes on and on.

And because there are so many ways to be “fit”, it’s easy to end up chasing things just because they’re what fitness culture tells us we should be chasing. You might be training harder than ever and still not be getting better at the things you actually care about.

There’s nothing wrong with wanting to run faster, lift heavier, move better, or improve your numbers.

But maybe your goal is to keep up on a long holiday, carry your own luggage, play with your kids, or simply feel good in your body as you get older.

There’s no right way to be fit, just one that feels right for you.

There’s a certain confidence that comes from feeling capable in your own body.

Being able to move well, handle more and trust your own strength.

That’s something you can keep building at any age.

08/09/2026

You can continue challenging yourself even as you get older.

You can still learn new movements. You can still improve your technique. You can still surprise yourself with what your body can do.

And we love being there for those moments: helping our students learn, push themselves and see what they’re capable of.
