Kindness isn’t a moment. It’s a practice.
At Va’a Association Singapore, we believe the outrigger canoe was never meant for the few.
Our mission has always been “Paddle for All” — building a community where the water is open to everyone, regardless of ability, background, or experience. Where high performance and radical inclusion sit in the same canoe.
That belief only becomes real through people who show up for others.
Here in Singapore, our outrigger canoe community puts that into practice by paying it forward.
At the Christmas Charity Paddle, in partnership with Singapore Canoe Federation, we brought people with visual impairments, autism, and physical disabilities onto Singapore’s coastal waters for an experiential paddle and mini races.
At our Para-Athlete Engagement trial last November, we went further — opening a structured pathway for PwDs to discover their potential in the sport.
Both times, the response was the same. Joy. And then: “Can we go again?”
That’s all the answer we need.
Singapore has one of the most beautiful shorelines in Southeast Asia. The open water, the rhythm of the paddle, the city skyline seen from the water — that experience should not be a privilege.
We’re building something here. And we need the community behind us to keep going.
If the spirit of “Paddle for All” moves you — whether as a volunteer, a partner, or a supporter — drop us a DM or email [email protected]. Let’s talk.
In the spirit of this year’s Kindness Day SG theme — let’s indeed be greater, together.
