Comment “Hubs” to save your free seat 🪑

Tell me if this sounds familiar: Your kid cries about something. You try to hold space. But your husband criticises: “You’re too soft. That’s why he’s like this!” 😖

That gets your guard up, so you feel you have to defend your parenting…

And suddenly, what started as a parenting issue has become a fight between the adults 😭

If this keeps happening in your home, come to my FREE live workshop:

How to practise Respectful Parenting… EVEN IF your husband doesn’t agree.

Comment “Hubs” for the link to register for this FREE live workshop 😍

I’ll walk you through:
👨🏻 The 5 Husband Profiles — and what may really be driving his resistance
👩🏻 How to parent YOUR way, without waiting for his buy-in
👩🏻‍❤️‍👨🏻 How to disagree without damaging your marriage (in fact if you do it like I teach, your marriage can get stronger!)

Your husband does NOT need to attend; you don’t need to convince him first; and I’m definitely not going to tell you to just “communicate better” 😂

Dates: 22, 24 or 26 September — all three sessions cover the same workshop, so just pick whichever timing suits you best.

🚨 There will be NO replay, so come live and make it count!

The hard truth I’ve had to stomach as a parent is: I can’t 100% protect my kids from predators. If someone wants to prey on my kids, they will.

BUT here’s what I CAN do to minimise the risk of that even happening: I can raise them to be the kind of kids a predator would think twice about abusing, because 1) they KNOW about body boundaries, and 2) they KNOW to ALWAYS disclose anything odd.

So please stop arguing about whether body boundaries are/should be a thing or not. Even MSF Singapore’s own guidance for caregivers warns that repeatedly pressuring a child to hug or kiss someone they’re uncomfortable with can teach them to suppress that discomfort — and make them less likely to report others who make them uncomfortable.

Which brings me back to YOU. Here are 3 things you as a parent can do:

1. Respect “no”. No forced hugs or kisses. Offer a wave or high-five instead.

2. Make honesty safe. When they tell you something difficult, don’t start with finding fault or blaming. Just simply say: “I’m so glad you told me. You’re not in trouble for this.”

3. Make sure they know what a red flag looks like. Tell them: “If anyone asks you to keep a touch secret, tell me. I will help you.”

To be clear, this STILL won’t guarantee disclosure, and safeguarding a child is still the adult’s job. BUT we can make speaking up feel safe and welcome.

Send this to your friends, spouse, grandparents, and caregivers — ideally, your child should hear the same message from every adult 💛

(And if you can’t get everyone on the same page, come to my Conflicting Parenting Styles workshop that I’m running in a few weeks. I’ll teach you how to navigate this so your kids are still protected 🫶🏻 Comment “WS” for the link to sign up — it’s free)

Are you and your spouse on the same page with this? If you aren’t, come to my Conflicting Parenting Styles workshop later this month — it’s free to join and back by popular demand! 😍

But don’t take it from me; see what a kindergarten teacher with decades of experience said after the workshop: “I wish all of my students’ parents would be a part of your world” 🧜🏻‍♀️

Went on CNA’s Deep Dive podcast yesterday, to talk about the head-patting incident. Sooo interesting to me that a single cctv vid has sparked such a heated and protracted discussion. Will share the link when the episode drops 🎙️

In the meantime, here’s the 4-part reel series I had done when the incident first broke. I had the opportunity to go wayyy deeper on the podcast, to discuss:
🤔 Is it okay to touch a kid?
🤔 What about grooming risks?
🤔 How should society move from here?

Thanks CNA for having me 🙏🏻

Are you and your friends still talking about this? Or have you moved on to NDR 😅

The language we use around boys today profoundly shapes who they become tomorrow — emotionally resilient, or emotionally suppressed? You get to decide 💛

Make sure they know:
1. All feelings are okay and they’re part of being human
2. They are also temporary — you won’t be sad/angry/frustrated forever
3. Adults cry too, and expressing emotion isn’t a sign of weakness

I feel super strongly about these concepts and that’s why I wrote them in my bestselling children’s picture book set! Comment “Set26” to get them for your kids 💛

What the what?! 😒 Did you see this study by AWARE Singapore? What are your thoughts?

Comment “Set26” for those books. Boys need better modelling NOW 📚

(And come back for Part 2; I have more to say about this survey!)
